Joyce: I don't know why Jose is getting all the blame. The players with their big salaries and big heads have a lot to answer for

Colin: We should have had a penalty at 2-0 and the it would have been game over. Not even a corner, what was the referee watching? Shocking

Mike: As a 60 years plus (ie lifelong) Manchester United fan, I have to say that as things stand, and read into it what you will, United and Jose Mourinho deserve each other.

Didn't Jose Mourinho see 'manhunting' with Arsene Wenger? Wenger didn't ever turn on his players did he. Not once. He's bullying these young men, humiliating them.

    Newcastle United

More from Matt Ritchie on PLP: "We gave ourselves a chance and we're disappointed not to have carried it [the performance] out for 90 minutes.

"We did really well in the first half and could have scored one or two more and there are some positives we need to take from that.

Newcastle midfielder Matt Ritchie points to Marouane Fellaini's introduction as a turning point in the match.

  9. Where is the Manchester United identity?published at 20:26 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    Man Utd 3-2 Newcastle

Speaking to BT Sport, former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand said: "Where is the Manchester United identity?

"Man City play with width and Liverpool attack through their front three, and these are the sides United are trying to catch.

"If things do not go well for Man United, they bring Marouane Fellaini on and lump it up to him. I don't see the ball going into Paul Pogba and that being a trigger for players to move off."

Achyut Kulkarni: Irrespective of the situation United are in right now, change of manager is not the answer. These guys are champions and need time to re-group. Still enough time to turn things around but challenging for trophies will be incredibly difficult.

    Manchester United

During the post-match news conference, Jose Mourinho said: "I’m happy for the fans and for the players."

On the Manchester United fans: "I’m amazed by that response. I don’t want that, and if I could tell them to not do it I would, because it is not about me it is about the football club they love and the football club we represent with honour and dignity.

"At half time we were losing 2-0 and the fans were magnificent to the team and that is fantastic. In my football memories, I remember when I beat Liverpool at Anfield 4-0 and I was amazed that the stadium was singing their song, but now I am in a situation where I’m losing 2-0 at home in a match everyone knows is important for us to win, and they were amazing."
