  1. 'Fantastic in the second half'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    Man Utd 3-2 Newcastle

Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "Great result in the end, they showed character.

"It's exactly what we wanted from Manchester United today - desire. Today we saw Jose Mourinho can get something out of this dressing room and they will work for him. They were fantastic in that second half."

  2. 'United showed more hunger'published at 19:27 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    John Anderson
Former Newcastle defender on BBC Newcastle

2-0 is a very dangerous scoreline because the next goal is massive. United got it and it gave them belief to go on and get the win.

We had the belief we were better in the first half, but United got the flea in the ear and showed more hunger after the break.

'Remember that game when Mourinho took Eric Bailly off after 15 minutes, played McTominay, Matic and Pogba in defence and United came from 2-0 down to win?'

I think a fair few of those inside Old Trafford will remember this day for a while. Paul Pogba hands his shirt to a lad in the front row.

    And, breathe.

Lewis: Starting to think we should start every game 2-0 down!

David: Mourinho signs new contract for further 3 years.

Thomas: Easy to see why NUFC are down at the bottom,,even at 2-0 they didn't look like they believed they could win this game. They have a long season ahead of them

'Glory, glory Man United' might be pushing it but that's the tune as Jose Mourinho strides with purpose down the tunnel, applauding the fans as he goes.

Rafa Benitez trudges on to the pitch in comparison. Did his side pay for their approach in the second half? Manchester United were a shambles at the back.

United’s players have come to their manager’s rescue when he needed them like never before. Has the much maligned Sanchez just delivered Mourinho’s Mark Robins moment? Or merely delayed the inevitable? Either way, a comeback to galvanise Old Trafford and lift some of the gloom

Am I crazy to think this is for the best? Us Newcastle fans have had enough. Rafa and Ashley need to leave. Bring Moyes or Pulis in to right the ship.

Everything United have done in this second half has been quicker and more accurate. It's a great ball whipped in and it's a good header which Alexis Sanchez has attacked well.

Newcastle are just camped in, no pressure on the cross and when it comes in there are three men in red waiting to head it home. Sanchez is the man who applies the touch. Old Trafford roars...

Dreadful ball, given straight back to Manchester United. But Romelu Lukaku can only chip a cross into the arms of Martin Dubravka.

Who's going to get a winner then?
