David de Gea made four saves in that half. One of which wa absolutely superb.

It could be worse for Manchester United. Can they turn this one around?

Don't really understand professionals not playing for their manager - what about playing for the fans, or is that old-fashioned?

Boos ring out at the whistle. Jose Mourinho jogs past Rafa Benitez in a rush to get to the tunnel, slapping his counterpart on the back as he does so.

Just coming up to half-time, can United turn this around?

Trevor: Has a manager ever been sacked at half time?

Kit: Juventus will score 8 or 9 against us if something doesn’t change.

Anthony: Not even looking up from my phone when I hear Man United are attacking on the TV, don't feel threatened AT ALL

Penalty?! Decent shout from the home fans as a corner comes all the way through and hits Yoshi Muto on the hand - not given.

And then Luke Shaw goes in the book for breaking up the Newcastle counter.

Paul Pogba has a shot deflected away - corner! Can they get one before the break.

A call for the return of Rooney from Mike there. My word...

  8. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Man Utd 0-2 Newcastle

It's a farce. Chris Smalling gives the ball away, Ayoze Perez gets into the area and has a shooting opportunity but totally misses his kick.

    Shambolic.

Paul: Finally time to give Giggs the job he should have been allowed to keep after Moyes.

Mike: What Jose would give to have Wayne Rooney back in this team right now...

Sahil: The players should be embarrassed and if they've stopped playing for the manager then that means they've stopped playing for the badge, the club and the fans. Disgusting.

I feel for the young boy McTominay, why has he took Bailly off and moved a midfielder back there? He's done the lad absolutely no favours there.

I can see Newcastle being made to pay for these missed chances, imagine the score if Man City were given this much space...

Old Trafford is all but silent as Mo Diame is able to just walk through midfield, almost reluctantly, and get a shot away. Intensity is an overused word in football in my opinion, but there is zero of it out there.

I've got a very bad memory but not sure I can recall as bad a display as this by a Manchester United side at home. City whacked tem 6-1 but at least they were a very good side (with apologies to winless Newcastle).

Aren't they still paying David Moyes?

  13. 'The fans are going mad'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on 606 on BBC Radio 5 live

Newcastle have scored four goals in seven games, but they have got two in 20 minutes at Old Trafford.

    What is going on?!

    The fans are going mad.

Is there any way back for Jose if they get beat?

It looks to me as though the home players are getting a bit fearful.

First touches are being miscontrolled. Passes are going astray. Silly free-kicks are being given away.

It is impossible to overstate the sense of anxiety hanging over Old Trafford right now.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 40 mins

    Man Utd 0-2 Newcastle

Jonjo Shelvey's free-kick hits Ashley Young on the arm. Shelvey screams for a penalty and gets a goal-kick. Which seems ludicrous.

It has to be at least a corner!

United look like scoring with every attack - Newcastle, not Manchester. A quick free-kick sees Matt Ritchie shoot wide under pressure as Ashley Young then turns on Romelu Lukaku for a touchline slanging match.

Alex: Is it possible football has moved on and Mourinho just hasn’t kept up?

Ben: Welsh football fans currently basking in the glory that at least Giggs has a job with them. He'd never abandon his country for Man United... Oh wait

David: Give Jose some credit. It takes a lot of effort to make Newcastle look this good

  18. 'They're no where near what you'd expect'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    Man Utd 0-2 Newcastle

    John Anderson
Former Newcastle defender on BBC Newcastle

It's been so comfortable and so easy, you don't want to count your chickens but it's been so comfortable for Newcastle. They haven't been anywhere near the United you'd have expected, Newcastle have got so much time and space on the ball.

It feels like Newcastle have had more chances this game than they have the whole season!

  19. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Man Utd 0-2 Newcastle

Eeeshhh - another free header for Newcastle as nobody picks up Jamaal Lascelles. He heads it over but there's no semblance of organisation back there.

Steve Bruce was sacked in the week. He's a free agent and can play if someone gets him a contract.

  20. 'It is getting embarrassing'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    Man Utd 0-2 Newcastle

    John Acres
BBC Radio 5 live commentator at Old Trafford

United look all over the place every time Newcastle come forward. It is getting embarrassing and there is an eerie hush around Old Trafford.
