Southampton win a corner. A home goal now would make things interesting at least.

The home side make a change before the corner can be delivered, with Shane Long on for Manolo Gabbiadini.

Fans stream into Anfield for the TV titled Champions v Challengers match. The mood is good around the stadium, with both sets of fans confident but also warning me their respective side is not at their best at present.

Just a few years ago Saints were an exciting attacking football team. Not scared to have a go at any team home or away. Now it is a team full of players that are cowards and not fit to wear the shirt. Mark Hughes is only taking us down, probably ending back up in League One.

I think if Cardiff, Huddersfield and Newcastle weren't so awful there might be quite a few teams worried about relegation this year but looks as though you won't need as many points as normal to stay up because I can't see the current bottom three getting many points at all!!

Chelsea seemingly happy to stroke the ball around now. No need for them to be really urgent. It's 2-0 but it might as well be 10.

Kyle: Chelsea have been a joy to watch again this season but not surprised after watching a lot of Napoli under Sarri. They have every chance of being title contenders this season.

Mark Hughes might have something to say about Chelsea's second goal after the game. A replay has just shown that David Luiz was holding his man on the edge of the box as the ball was floated in his direction and ultimately to Giroud for the assist.

As if to try to prove me wrong, Southampton launch a rare attack that earns them a corner when Antonio Rudiger blocks Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's shot.

Wesley Hoedt has a pop following the resulting corner but it flies wide.

There's something rotten in the state of Southampton. The team is flat, the crowd is flat. No inspiration, no ambition, no joy. You really fear for them this season.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg joins his team-mates in the referee's book for dumping a Chelsea player on his backside.

Liverpool v Man City (16:30 BST)

Jurgen Klopp makes one change to the side that started the 1-1 draw at Chelsea last weekend, with Dejan Lovren in for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Midfielder Naby Keita is named on the bench despite having suffered a back spasm in the midweek Champions League defeat at Napoli.

The Reds remain without Adam Lallana (groin), who is nearing a return to fitness, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) remains a long-term absentee.

Meanwhile, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola makes three changes to the side that beat Brighton 2-0, with Benjamin Mendy returning from a foot injury.

John Stones and Riyad Mahrez also start, meaning Nicolas Otamendi, Leroy Sane and Oleksandr Zinchenko – who isn’t named among City’s substitutes – drop out.

The match at Anfield comes too soon for Kevin De Bruyne (knee), who resumed training this week, while Ilkay Gundogan (hamstring) also misses out.

Some genuinely interesting team news for once!

Liverpool make two changes from the team beaten in Naples in midweek as Dejan Lovren comes in for his first league appearance of the season. Trent Alexander-Arnold drops to the bench so that presumably means that Joe Gomez will move to right-back or it's a back three.

City make four changes from their Champions League win in Germany.

In come Riyad Mahrez, John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy. Vincent Kompany is on the bench.

    Ross Barkley

This may well put Southampton out of their misery.

Ross Barkley - a man who has spent plenty of time out of the limelight of late - propels himself into it by bundling home Chelsea's second as Olivier Giroud acrobatically volleys over an assist following a free-kick.

One goal was hard enough for Southampton to overhaul. Two, though? No chance.

The Manchester City sky blue team bus pulls in to Anfield with hardly any fans still in attendance. There is some boo-ing, but it is a very different scene to earlier this year when the City bus was greeted by hostile scenes for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

    Saints have done it again!

Anything Ings can do, Bertrand can match.

The ball is floated into the box and right on to the boot of the full-back, but his volleyed effort from an angle flies over the bar. Not as bad as Ings' miss in the first half but he should still score.
