That was THE chance. Steve Mounie knows it. David Wagner knows it. And so do the Huddersfield fans.

Dejan Lovren starts karate kicking fresh air when a cross comes in from the Huddersfield right, enabling Mounie to pounce with a wild swipe of the left foot.

He doesn't catch the ball cleanly though and swipes it over the goal.

Got to take them.

Here come Liverpool on the break through Xherdan Shaqiri, who moves the ball quickly to Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian sub sees Mo Salah and Daniel Sturridge in front of him, but his ball cannot find the gap he was looking for as Christopher Schindler blocks.

Our man Simon is exactly right. A lot of positive things to say about Huddersfield tonight, but they haven't really troubled Liverpool's defence apart from that 10-minute period at the end of the first half.

This is the third time I have seen Huddersfield here this season.

On each occasion - against Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool - they have been in the game for long periods. On none of those occasions have they scored.

It's fairly obvious David Wagner's side need to find a cutting edge if they are to repeat last season's incredible survival fight.

Excellent move from Liverpool forces a corner. Xherdan Shaqiri spots the run of Andrew Robertson and sends a ball around the corner for the Reds full-back to scamper after. The Scot's low cross tries to pick out a team-mate in the box, only for Huddersfield defender Christopher Schindler to slide in and block.

Zred: If you’re watching Liverpool for entertainment find something else because Liverpool isn’t for entertainment anymore. Why? Klopp said it before the season, “We must learn to win ugly.”
