Finally the massed ranks of Liverpool fans - who would have had to set off from Merseyside at stupid o'clock this morning to reach the south coast for a lunchtime kick-off - have a goal to cheer from their "Egyptian King".

Assistant referee Marc Perry - who's earned the wrath of the home fans a couple of times before that goal for failing to flag Liverpool players offside - kept his flag down again that time. Fair to say he shouldn't expect any Christmas cards from the home fans behind him in the East Stand.

Liverpool are now top of the Premier League as things stand.

Oooof. It may have been all Liverpool so far but that's as close as we've come. David Brooks gets into the action for the first time with a shot on the turn from eight yards but Alisson makes the save at the near post.

Much better from Bournemouth.

Crunch. A proper full-blooded challenge from James Milner on his 500th Premier League appearance. The Bournemouth fans are furious as they think it was a foul but Lee Mason waves play on.

Eventually the Cherries do get their first shot away but Joshua King drags it wide of the left-hand post.

Both teams are really trying to spring into action in the final third, but Nathan Ake held Mo Salah up well on that occasion.

Bournemouth are having a string of one or two passes but they can't get the possession that Eddie Howe likes to have - you can see him already talking about tactics to his staff on the sidelines.

Bournemouth have every player within 40 yards of their own goal and that encourages Joel Matip to maraud forward.

Fabinho has a shot from 25 yards but gets it awfully wrong. It was going way, way wide before hitting a defender.

Alisson is going to have to make friends with a steward. There's no one near him.

Finally Bournemouth get the ball into the final third...

And Joshua King passes straight to Fabinho. It's not sticking up top so far for the hosts.

Another yellow for Bournemouth. They've had more bookings than attacks so far. Jefferson Lerma brings down Fabinho with a late hack and is punished.

It's early but Liverpool have had 75% possession so far. Keita gets into the action again with a snazzy backheel to Andrew Robertson. From there the Reds, playing in grey today, try to work a crossing position but turn back and keep the ball for a bit longer.
