Olivier Giroud smashes the ball into the roof of the net, but the offside flag denies him a goal for the second time this afternoon.

The French international striker ran onto Willian's through ball, and the offside call was tight, but he appears to roll his ankle in the follow through of his shot after a challenge with Mamadou Sakho.

Wilfried Zaha had one in the first half, and Palace have just had another half-hearted appeal for a penalty.

They finally venture into the Chelsea half, and the ball pops up to make contact with Marcos Alonso inside the area, but the home supporters' appeals for a handball are turned down.

In the first half it was frustrating, but since taking the lead, Chelsea's possession-based football appears to reflect a complete control on proceedings.

The Burnley manager Sean Dyche makes five changes to the side that were hammered 5-1 by Everton at Turf Moor on Boxing Day.

The big news is that goalkeeper Joe Hart is dropped, with Matt Lowton, Ben Gibson, Jeff Hendrick and Sam Vokes also missing out. In come captain Tom Heaton, Phil Bardsley, Dwight McNeil, Chris Wood and Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
