There's definitely contact on Dejan Lovren but is it enough to award a penalty? Probably not.

It's the lack of consistency which is hard to grasp. But what's football without a bit of debate? Either way, Liverpool have clearly been the better side today and the scoreline reflects that.

It’s wonderful to see. All the Liverpool players are congratulating one another.

There might be controversy from the Arsenal players, but if you contest any of the referee's decisions you’re clutching at straws. That’s what Arsenal are doing there.

Rich: Does the ref have a Liverpool shirt on under that black one?????

Alphonse: Liverpool you are better than this. Come on a penalty for that.... Harsh, harsh, harsh

Khan: Elbow in the back of Lovren for the penalty. Any jealous people going to say he dived too?

Hat-trick for the Brazilian. He coolly slots it into Bernd Leno's left corner as the Arsenal keeper dives the other way.

One moment I was watching the Liverpool defence, the next it’s a wonderful ball by van Dijk down the line.

Look at who’s taking the shot for Liverpool! It was a good effort from Alexander-Arnold but Arsenal managed to get the block in.

Archie: This is Unai Emery's first season with Arsenal, people need to remember that. It's going to take time and a few transfer windows to solidify the team especially the defence.

Anon: Arsenal fan! This season is just Emery finding his team. These results will still happen but next season I'm confident it will be a new Arsenal DNA

Sadio Mane is being replaced by Jordan Henderson. The Liverpool forward doesn't seem too happy but it's a smart move by Jurgen Klopp to rotate his key players.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles tries to slip it through for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but Virgil van Dijk is there to mop up.

He plays a lovely ball over the top for Sadio Mane, whose first touch is exquisite. The attack ends with Trent Alexander-Arnold's shot being deflected wide for a corner.

Ash: Aubameyang is lucky he’s offside. Top class striker hitting it over from A YARD!

Wolfenstein: Why can't we just play Lacazette instead of Aubameyang, he loses chances a lot.

Okeke: It took 51 mins for me to hear the name 'Aubameyang' by the commentary team.

Arsenal are enjoying a bit of possession now. Liverpool are remaining solid at the back.

  15. CLOSE!published at 56 mins

    Liverpool 4-1 Arsenal

Liverpool immediately attack up the other end - Mohamed Salah involved in some nice flicks and touches - before Salah's low cross is cut-out by Bernd Leno.

Seconds later, a fizzing Roberto Firmino shot is flapped down by the Arsenal keeper before he picks up the rebound.

  16. CLOSE!published at 55 mins

    Liverpool 4-1 Arsenal

The ball is beautifully thread through by Granit Xhaka to Aaron Ramsey and the Welshman slides it across the goal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to tap in.

But somehow Aubameyang misses from a yard out - skewing his effort over the bar! Incredible miss. Turns out he's offside anyway...

That was good defending by Shaqiri in his own box. He knew that if he mistimed his tackle it would have been a penalty.

Liverpool aren’t living dangerously but they’ve had a few situations where they’ve given the ball away needlessly.

Paul: Only way back for Arsenal is if they bring Arshavin on.

Bezaleel: From 4-1 to 4-4, only Arshavin did that for the Gunners. Gone are the days.....

Paul W: Thank goodness Arsenal don't have Arshavin to bring on, or I'd be worried.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 53 mins

    Liverpool 4-1 Arsenal

Sead Kolasinac turns inside and Xherdan Shaqiri comes charging into him in the box. But the Arsenal man falls to the ground under no contact, seemingly thrown off balance by his own turn. There's very few appeals from the crowd and none by the players.

  20. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Liverpool 4-1 Arsenal

Dejan Lovren comes away with the ball and is brought down by Aaron Ramsey who is chasing back on the right wing. Trent Alexander-Arnold's free-kick is a strange one though and it's almost pounced onto by Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the middle before Andy Robertson recovers.
