The ease in which they get sliced open - it's unacceptable. Great one-touch football from Spurs. Eriksen has three touches before he gets a shot away. Brilliant from Tottenham but woeful defending from Cardiff.

    Christian Eriksen

Spurs break forward with pace and the ball is crossed back into the centre from Son Heung-min on the right. It comes all the way through to Christian Eriksen and the midfielder shows composure to step to his right, shimmy and fire it into the keeper's bottom right corner.

    Lovely stuff!

    Cardiff 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham are having to defend a little at the moment but they are doing a good job of it. Dele Alli manages to reach the ball first and wins a free-kick in the centre.

Referee Kevin Friend waves advantage and Spurs look to counter but Alli's touch lets him down. Cardiff go straight up the other end but the move breaks down with Victor Camarasa.

This comes from that midfield area that I spoke about. Kane picks the ball up and sprays the ball wide. As the cross comes in Sean Morrison can't cope with it.

And there goes that statistical anomaly. Harry Kane's somewhat farcical goal means he has now scored against all 28 of the teams he's faced in the Premier League.

    Cardiff v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

Harry Kane has now scored five Premier League goals on New Year's Day, level with the record held by Andrew Cole and Steven Gerrard.

It also means he has scored 16 goals in his last 12 away matches against newly-promoted teams in the top-flight AND he has now scored against each of the 28 teams he has faced in the league.

    Harry Kane

Harry Kane started off the move by driving at the Cardiff defence before slipping it right to Kieran Trippier.

The ball is whipped in and it's terrible defending from Cardiff as the ball falls straight to Kane and the England striker only has to poke it into a gaping net.

    Calamity.

Kyle: I expect a reaction from Tottenham and despite Cardiff being good at home of late bar their 5-1 home defeat to Manchester United. I expect Tottenham to win comfortably 3-0 its a great chance for Spurs to put pressure on the top 2 ahead of Thursday night.

  20. 'Our performance was not bad'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    FT: Arsenal 4-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri speaking to Sky Sports: "If you analyse the first half hour we created two great chances. The home crowd thought, "what happened" and started to boo their players. But then Arsenal scored with their first chance because of our mistake and then we made another mistake and they scored. But we were back at 2-1 but then made more mistakes.

"We then got a little tired and we don't have the quality of Arsenal. It was not bad our performance.

"When you play against the big teams you have to make the calculations very fast. I will show this to the players and we work better than we have been working.

Will you bring in any players in January?

"Maybe it's something we have to do - I will speak to the owner.

"I'm very, very pleased with my players. If we have the chaace to buy some good players then welcome."
