    Cardiff v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "It's going to be tough, Cardiff are a tough team to play against.

"We need to move on [after the Wolves defeat] and try to be ready to compete because we're going to need big energy to play.

"We need to be prepared for a big battle and we're looking forward to it."

  2. 'Spurs like a wounded animal'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Cardiff v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Cardiff won't mind Tottenham coming here. Cardiff's home form recently has been good, though they struggle against the bigger sides. Played Man City and got walloped, played Man United and got walloped.

It will be difficult but they will be full of confidence, though they will have to be at their very best. Tottenham are like a wounded animal after their result against Wolves, so we should expect a reaction. You can look at it either way, but with what they have done in recent games it is like a free hit.

  3. An unwanted record to chasepublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

Cardiff have conceded 11 Premier League goals from set pieces this season - only Manchester United, with 12, have conceded more.

Cardiff's players are finishing up their warm-ups and heading down into the tunnel. A few Spurs players are still on the pitch passing the ball around and are being watched by the coaches. Around 15 minutes to go.

  5. 'We want to improve'published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    FT: Arsenal 4-1 Fulham

    Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka: After a bad game against Liverpool, we want to show a good game and to improve. Fulham have a new coach and a good team. We were a bit nervous at 2-1, but 4-1 makes us happy.

We can learn a lot from the game against Liverpool - they are a good team this year - but we have West Ham away and then Chelsea at home which is a tough programme.

On his own goal: The coach told me and Matteo Guendouzi to get into the box more to try and take some chances.

I hope that 2019 will be big for Arsenal and we want to take a lot of points and see if we end up top four or not.

  6. Kane omen?published at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

It's not often Harry Kane faces Premier League opposition against whom he hasn't scored. In fact, Cardiff are the only side.

Kane has found the net against 27 of the 28 teams he's faced in the top flight, and he will be hoping to complete the set today.

Kane has netted 15 goals in his last 11 Premier League away matches against newly-promoted teams.

  7. 'We crumbled a bit'published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    FT: Arsenal 4-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham defender Denis Odoi speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we showed can play football but it's a reality check also. Arsenal were a little bit more efficient in the beginning. We started well in the second half but then we crumbled a bit.

"At 2-1 we were still pushing. We thought 2-2 might be possible.

"After 3-1 it was just disappointment. You still try to push but your know its hard. It was 4-1 when there was a communication issue between myself and Jean Michael Seri.

"The legaue is still on and we have every chance to stay in it."

  8. 'Arsenal strikers tore Fulham to bits'published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    FT: Arsenal 4-1 Fulham

    Paul Parker
Ex-Fulham and Manchester United defender on BBC Radio London

It was better from Fulham, better attacking-wise. The first 45 minutes against Huddersfield wasn’t great. There is a shining light.

Defensively they were torn to bits by two top quality forwards in Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Sheer quality, movement and knowledge. Fulham couldn’t deal with them.

While Spurs need victory to keep chase with the leaders, Cardiff could do with a win to boost them further away from the dreaded bottom three.

They could climb to 14th with victory this evening.

  10. 'I admire Pochettino'published at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Cardiff v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

    Cardiff City

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock: "It's a massive challenge, they [Tottenham] have got so many quality players.

"One bad result and it's a catastrophe in the press, but it's an exciting club with the prospect of a new stadium and the number of quality English lads is great for us.

"I admire Mauricio Pochettino and his staff."

  11. 'Unbeaten run papered over cracks'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Arsenal 4-1 Fulham

    Paul Parker
Ex-Fulham and Manchester United defender on BBC Radio London

Much of the season Arsenal have been like this, the 22-match unbeaten run papered over cracks. They could score but give goal way to good sides and they found that out against Liverpool. They offered Fulham opportunities, they never took them.

You could feel the uneasiness from the crowd and every game this season will be like this at the Emirates, the crowd on edge, not confident enough in the defensive side of the team.

  12. What happened last timepublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Cardiff v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

Cardiff will be hoping to build on their dramatic late victory over Leicester on Saturday.

Leicester had 62% of the possession against Cardiff, but Victor Camarasa's stunning injury-time strike gave the Bluebirds their first away win of the season.

Against the run of play, the midfielder curled home a 25-yard shot which sailed into the top corner over a flailing Kasper Schmeichel.

Cardiff goalkeeper Neil Etheridge had earlier produced an inspired display, including saving James Maddison's second-half penalty.

  13. 'We picked ourselves up after the loss to Liverpool'published at 17:03 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    FT: Arsenal 4-1 Fulham

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a good performance from the team and response after the recent loss.

"They had a few good chances but we're resilient."

Should you have scored more? "Yeah but we did get four and that's enough."

Response after the heavy defeat by Liverpool?

"We picked ourselves up in training and today you saw we played with confidence. We like to make sure our opponents are scared to come to the Emirates."

    Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney:

"4-1 makes it sound like a hammering. It definitely wasn't that. There were chances for both sides.

"To be honest that's the best we've played (in the second half) under the new manager. The scoreline is the thing at the end of the day though."

  14. Can Spurs handle the pressure?published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Cardiff v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

    Mark Scott
    Match of the Day commentator

Cardiff will certainly have a spring in their step after snatching a first away victory of the season late on at Leicester and they've also won three of their last four at home.

However, the last couple of visits they've had from one of the big guns have both ended in heavy defeats.

The festive schedule was always going to be a challenge for Tottenham physically, but this game will also be a real test of character following the loss to Wolves and ensuing suggestions that Spurs couldn't handle the pressure of being talked about as title contenders.

Dom: Well, a win is a win. Shaky, yes, but needed after the Liverpool result. I think we're competing with United for least clean sheets all season though...

Daniel: That's better! But defence needs fixing plus midfield lacks creativity. Perhaps we missed a certain no.10 today?

Joe: Liverpool remind us we aren't that good, Fulham remind us we aren't that bad. Perhaps Arsenal are just pretty decent?

David: that Fulham defence is staggeringly bad. I don't think I have seen a worse rearguard since the abysmal Derby side of a decade ago
