James a Young: Were the Chelsea and Southampton players told that they would be fined if they did anything on the pitch that resembled quality or energy? Lifeless

Helles Mammut: First difficult game under OGS and United look exactly the same as they did under Mourinho... Two wins against bottom 4 clubs shouldn't make anyone believe that this is anything but the sixth best team in the Premier League.

Mike Sizzy: Please someone tell me exactly what Valencia is doing? He seem lifeless and not in this game.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Bournemouth 0-1 Watford

Ryan Fraser has loads of space to shoot in the box after it's laid off for him by Callum Wilson. But Fraser scuffs his effort and the ball dribbles straight into Ben Foster's arms. Chance.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Wolves 0-0 Crystal Palace

He's had a dream season but that's a bit of a nightmare - Matt Doherty heads over the top from about three yards out.

Willy Boly nodded down a corner and the wing-back was free at the back stick, but couldn't keep it down.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Chelsea 0-0 Southampton

Angus Gunn continues his fine debut, saving with his face! Eden Hazard was onside to meet a little ball turned over the top, he lashes in a left-footed shot but Gunn had narrowed the angle and repels it with his cheek/shoulder.

As a slick move puts Watford ahead, there's just a restrained raised fist of celebration from manager Javi Gracia. Bournemouth had numbers back but Troy Deeney's pinpoint header has the Watford fans in good voice.

One interested onlooker in the Main Stand tonight is Watford's all-time record goalscorer, who also scored more than a half-century of goals in three seasons for Bournemouth - Luther Blissett.

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

ANOTHER chance for Christian Atsu! Antonio Valencia may be showing why he hasn't been anywhere near the team. All three chances have come in the same fashion, through his righ-back berth.

This time it's just pumped over the top, Valencia is not in shot as Atsu runs on but drags a horrible shot across the face of goal.

  7. goal

    Steve Mounie (33 mins)

Isaac Mbenza crosses in a beautiful ball which Steve Mounie coolly nods into the back of the net at the far post.

That's his first goal since April and he made it look like a walk in the park.

    HUGE goal for Huddersfield.

That goal was Troy Deeney's 116th goal for Watford. Banging 'em in.

Nathan House: Marriner’s going to have one of those matches he’s trying so hard not to seem biased to the big team it goes the other way. Those challenges on Rashford are the dead give away. Up against 12 here

Elliot Gilmore: Please can someone tell me how Phil Jones is a footballer, never mind a Premier League player, but simply a footballer. He has no clue and is shocking at the back

Paul Cunningham: Great challenge by Phil Jones, shame Phil Jones is the reason he needs to make those challenges

    Chelsea 0-0 Southampton

Nathan Redmond leads a rapid Southampton counter but he then plays the ball the wrong way and wastes all his good work.

Is there a goal in the air?

  11. GREAT SAVES!published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Huddersfield 0-0 Burnley

Excellent double save from Jonas Lossl! Ben Mee header is palmed away low to his left and he gobbles up the rebound from Ashley Barnes too.

    Top range reactionary skills there.

  12. CLOSE!published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

The game has come to life! Phil Jones at it again, a crazy minute from the number four as he again miscontrols a pass, then plays a blind backpass which plays an otherwise offside Salomon Rondon clean through on goal. Clanger!

Jones, to give him credit, then does brilliantly to get back and deny Rondon with a challenge before Anthony Martial crowns a counter-attack with a shot into the side-netting.

End-to-end. Manchester United's defence looks suspect at best...

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

Lovely first touch from Christian Atsu to control a long ball forwards, he gets a shot away but it's straight at Dave de Gea. Seconds later Phil Jones makes a hash of another ball forwards and it's the same again - Atsu denied by De Gea!

  14. goal

    Troy Deeney

A really nice move from Watford.

It builds up down the right with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ken Sema before it's whipped in towards the back post where Troy Deeney is waiting to nod it into the corner.

    Simple but effective.

David Ljunggren: it's hugely dispiriting to see Newcastle playing for a 0-0 draw right from the start.

Dave Payn: Come on, Newcastle made more of a go of it at OT. Different manager, and all that but with Phil Jones in defence the Toon should be on the front foot

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    West Ham 0-0 Brighton

Marko Arnautovic creates space for himself to shoot on the edge of the box but his right-footed curling effort is well saved by David Button, who had dived low to his left.

    Wolves 0-0 Crystal Palace

Lots of reports today of course that Wolves are keen on signing Tammy Abraham this month. He's been banging them in for Villa on loan from Chelsea but did struggle a bit at Swansea last season.

The answer? Wolves haven't seen enough of the ball for their number nine to be interested tonight. There's a stoppage at the moment as referee Roger East is struggling with his radio.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Watford

    Mark Mitchener
    BBC Sport at Vitality Stadium

David Brooks, who scored the opening goal when Bournemouth won 4-0 at Vicarage Road in October, has already threatened to do the same, curling an effort just over Ben Foster's crossbar. That's the nearest either side has come to scoring - with Brooks at the heart of the Cherries' best moves.

And it only took six minutes for the first chant from the home fans referencing 2015, when they pipped Watford to the Championship title. With both sides playing 4-4-2, it looks to be a keenly contested encounter.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Watford

Jefferson Lerma's shot on the edge of the box goes horribly wrong. Nobody seems to have their shooting boots on today...

Come on lads, we want goals!
