    Chelsea 0-0 Southampton

    A very drab spectacle.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Bournemouth 0-2 Watford

Abdoulaye Doucoure sprints down the left, cuts inside and curls a lovely effort towards the right corner. It's only a few inches high.

Watford teammate Troy Deeney then goes into the book for a foul on Ryan Fraser.

  3. Postpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

Newcastle are just getting a bit messy at the back, a breakdown in communication lets Juan Mata in on goal but Martin Dubravka reads it well to make the save.

Newcastle aren't messing about on the tackling front. Jamaal Lascelles flies into another challenge and wins the ball but leaves his man in a heap.

    Huddersfield 1-1 Burnley

There's suggestions that Christopher Schindler wasn't aware he was on a yellow. But it was still a needless challenge!

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is very animated inside his technical area. It is not too often you see the Spaniard throwing his arms around in disgust, but he is clearly unhappy with a number of decisions by referee Andre Marriner.

David Wagner stood open mouthed as Christopher Schindler made his way off the field then.

Less than 10 minutes earlier he had celebrated Steve Mounie's first goal of the season.

Now his team have over half a game to play with 10 men.

Alex Pritchard didn't look too impressed to be brought off but Schindler's rather needless second yellow has caused Wagner to change his plans.

    Huddersfield 1-1 Burnley

Huddersfield might be trying to shut up shop now that they are down to 10 men. Creative player Alex Pritchard has just been replaced by defender Erik Durm.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

Man of the moment Paul Pogba whips a shot from the edge of the area, just wide. Decent effort, he used a defender as a human shield.

Jones & Lindelöf... Manchester United's worst centre back pairing EVER!?!

    Seb from Sussex

Pogba looks like a completely different player under Solskjaer, hope the fans can get behind him so he can be a lynchpin for the club going forward!

    Matt McPherson

United look unbalanced down the right hand side. With Mata tucking inside you want Valencia to provide the width but he seems to have lost that ability to take players on and run down the wing.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Bournemouth 0-2 Watford

Abdoulaye Doucoure goes into the book for a very risky tackle on Ryan Fraser. He's lucky not to be shown a red.

  11. Postpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Chelsea 0-0 Southampton

Marcos Alonso drills wide from the edge of the area as Chelsea threaten from a corner. It's all a bit pedestrian at the Bridge.

Jess H: Honestly not too sad to see Willian coming off tonight, he's been phoning it in for a while now, man looks exhausted.

Coolisha: Isn't Ross Barkley supposed to be a "creative" player in the midfield? Never see him make a clever pass to open defences! Why does David Luiz and Rudiger have to make the killer pass, if Barkley is supposed to the "creative one"

Harrison Short: I think it’s pretty clear which areas United need to strengthen in the January transfer window.

  13. goal

GOAL - Bournemouth 0-2 Watfordpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Troy Deeney

Gerard Deulofeu goes on a great run through the centre but he's stopped in his tracks in the box by an excellent sliding tackle from Steve Cook.

But Cook ends up taking teammate Nathan Ake with him which leaves the way free for Troy Deeney to come in a drill it past Asmir Begovic.

  14. RED CARD - Christopher Schindlerpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Huddersfield 1-1 Burnley

Christopher Schindler, who was already on a yellow, brings down youngster Dwight McNeil on the edge of the box and gets a second booking. Foolish!

    Alan Shearer
Former England captain on Radio 5 live

The worry for Newcastle is that when they get chances against Manchester United then they have to take them, as with the ability United have, they will be clinical with their own.

United are finding it tough as Newcastle are staying in shape, not giving United any space to pass into.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

Marcus Rashford comes off second best, for the second time, in a shoulder-to-shoulder with Jamaal Lascelles, before Rashford clashes with Martin Dubravka. Good goalkeeping.

Moments later Anthony Martial slices over when well placed. It's a pretty open game.

Interesting to note that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is taking a back seat in these opening exchanges. First team coach Michael Carrick has adopted the arms-folded-classic pose at the edge of the technical area.

GOAL - Huddersfield 1-1 Burnleypublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Chris Wood (33 mins)

Dwight McNeil is impressing for Burnley so far and he's grabbed himself an assist. He cuts inside twice - fouling the defender - before drilling it across goal where Chris Wood is waiting to poke it into the back of the net.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    West Ham 0-0 Brighton

West Ham have grown into this game more as the half has gone on. A ball forward towards Marko Arnautovic ends up with an untidy tangle between the West Ham striker and Brighton captain Lewis Dunk. There's appeals from the hosts but the referee waves them away.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2019

    Chelsea 0-0 Southampton

Willian has to come off early on - he was caught by a hefty challenge and can't continue. On comes Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
