Karl Thomas: That ball by Pogba was absolutely disgusting! Pinpoint accuracy and obviously great finish from Rashford.

Femi John Atoyebi: Chelsea ran Spurs ragged on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup, now they aren’t sharp against MUFC.

Eduinata: Sissoko won't let pogba play. It is not a coincidence that that pass came after he was subbed off.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 48 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd

Absolutely lovely football from Spurs, that was superb pass and move stuff! Christian Eriksen is involved, as is Erik Lamela before Harry Kane is played in on goal.

Onside, he goes for power across goal and David de Gea saves with his right foot!

It was Dele Alli who played the final pass. Superb move.

It plays into Manchester United's hands now. Because they've been trying to play on he counter-attack, they've been looking to play exactly how they scored - that one ball through the middle to break that Tottenham defence and one of their quick forward players gets onto it.

As Tottenham start to press in the second half and squeeze up the pitch, Manchester United are going to get more and more chances like that.

Chris Sutton says that Paulo Gazzaniga is a better option in goal for Tottenham than Hugo Lloris - I was half expecting Gazzaniga to keep his place today, I have to agree with the big man.

A friend of mine who supports Spurs has been banging that particular drum for a while.

Absolutely, Bournemouth deserved a draw. Scrappy play by Everton and 'bad temperament '. Gomes should have been sent off, twice! Don't be fooled by the 2-0 score line. Bournemouth had more goals on target, played the better football. Everton should have had nine men on the pitch, not 11

Everton have been lacking that bit of fight since Moyes left. Gets the Goodison crowd going as well. Long may it continue.

That goal is bad news for Tottenham - and possibly Arsenal too.

Tottenham have failed to have a shot on target in the first half of a home Premier League game for the first time since August 2017 against Burnley.

  12. 'Soft underbelly?'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

Tottenham have often been criticised for having a soft underbelly, especially against the likes of Manchester United. Now let's see what happens in the second half.

Tottenham dominated the first half and created more chances, so the way Manchester United have played, is it tactical genius? Is it down to Trippier's mistake, giving the ball away? A little bit of both maybe.

Bournemouth played well today - they are on a bad run of results but they are certainly not playing poorly.

  14. 'The result is harsh on us today'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Everton 2-0 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Speaking to Sky Sports, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: "I think the result is really harsh on us today, we competed in a really tough game and we had some chances we didn't take but the scoreline doesn't reflect the performance."

"The fighting spirit and determination was on show, we pressed well and we nullified their threats for large spells of the game but the first goal was a huge moment where we didn't defend well enough. Kurt Zouma's marker, Josh King, came out to deal with the cross but we didn't fill in correctly."

On a potential penalty in the second half: "I didn't see it but I'm told by people that have that it was penalty, I can't focus on that at the moment with our current run, but those things aren't going for us either. The challenge is to maintain the confidence in the group, but the luck will tun and fortunes will change."

  15. 'I'm proud of the goal and the performance'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Everton 2-0 Bournemouth

    Everton

Kurt Zouma speaking to Match of the Day: "It was very important to win today. Winning this way was even more enjoyable because I scored the first goal. The cross was unbelievable and I just had to put my head there so I’m happy and proud with the goal and the performance.

"We had a slow start but we had to keep confident and strong at the back, and everybody did a great job. We managed to get the second and everyone is happy."

  16. 'It will change for us'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Everton 2-0 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Speaking to Match of the Day, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: "I thought we played well today, we started the game well and we had a good chance with David Brooks but that's how it is going for us. A lot of elements were really strong but ultimately it goes against us."

On the potential penalty following a tackle from Andre Gomes: "I haven't seen it but I'm told it was a clear penalty."

On Kurt Zouma's opening goal: "It was set a piece that came in, and we have dealt with it but the second phase has cost us. Our goalkeeper has not been overworked today but we have conceded two goals.

"It will change for us if we continue to hit those levels we were at today, but when you're in that moment, that win seems elusive."

  17. 'Our players showed big personality and character'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

Speaking to Match of the Day, Everton manager Marco Silva said: "They were an important three points for us. We knew before the match it was important to turn the last few results back our way. Bournemouth started better than us, and they put high pressure on us. We had some problems at the beginning of the match but their best chance came after foul on Kurt Zouma.

"After the break we started to play and we created chances. We scored and then they reacted but we did well in that moment before we scored the second. Even if 2-0 is a tough result to take for them, we deserved the points and our players showed big personalty and character as a team."

On Ademola Lookman's performance: "It was a fantastic performance and we know he is at that level, but he will improve more and more. It was tough to put his mind in the right way and I have been working hard with him, but I have no doubts he will create big things in his career.

"Criticism and pressure is something normal for me as a coach. I started at 34 and it is not important. I want good results and I know why I came here to Everton, and I know our project. I am the first person to criticise myself but I am also realistic."

The ball was given away by Kieran Trippier unnecessarily. He tried to play it blind. And it's exactly what I was talking about. That's what Manchester United have been looking for - that one incisive ball through, using the pace of Rashford, and he picks out a brilliant finish right into the far corner.

This is not an easy finish. He's wide, the angle's not particularly favourable, and he puts it just beyond the outstretched fingertips of Lloris, just inside the far post.

Manchester United have been rewarded for a positive approach and now the onus is on Spurs to lift it after the break. Really good half for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.
