The spotlight falls on the Glasgow derby tomorrow.

Celtic have had a bruising week, with reports of behind-the-scenes problems and striker Moussa Dembele forcing their hand in a £19.7m transfer to Olympique Lyonnais.

Rangers, meanwhile, will head across the city in fine fettle having qualified along with their neighbours for the Europa League group stage and with Steven Gerrard having further strengthened his squad.

However, it is Celtic who will start the day a point ahead of their city rivals having never lost to Rangers under Rodgers.

  3. Dundee stuck at bottompublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    Scottish Premiership - Bottom six

Dundee's 3-1 home defeat leaves Neil McCann's side bottom of the Premiership still without a point.

And the reaction of the Dens boss will have many reaching for their dictionaries.

"I don't believe there's a belief issue," he has told BBC Scotland. "I think there's maybe a lack of confidence."

Aberdeen, runners-up for four seasons, find themselves in the bottom half after their 2-0 home defeat by Kilmarnock, but manager Derek McInnes is not too concerned after a defeat that followed an early red card for Mikey Devlin he thought was "harsh on us".

"Had we got a result today, it would have been a solid start," he said.

  4. Lennon takes responsibility for losspublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    FT: Livingston 2-1 Hibernian

Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon was in doubt about what was missing from his team today.

"We got what we deserved second half because the hungrier team won and that’s down to me," he told BBC Scotland. "So I take full responsibility for that performance.

"I thought we were alright in the first half and had decent control of the game and, when we got the goal, I thought that might settle us.

"But the equaliser turned the momentum towards Livingston. But we didn’t do enough in the final third and defensively it was very very poor."

  5. 'I proved a point' - Stewartpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 0-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock midfielder Greg Stewart, who scored on his debut against his old club, Aberdeen, tells BBC Scotland: "It's something you think about the night before, 'Can I get the winner against my old team'?

"I had a great time here, it was good to see everyone, but there was only one thought in my mind. Obviously the sending off has helped us.

"I had a point to prove to myself. I've not trained with the first team at Birmingham, I've trained with young boys.

"So for me to come in this week and the gaffer to put me straight in the team it's good for me, he's shown a little bit of trust."

  6. Only Rangers could entice Dobbiepublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

FT: Queen of the South 5-0 Ayr United

Stephen Dobbie scored his third hat-trick this season, his second in consecutive games and has now hit the net 18 times.

He was top scorer in the Championship last season and his continued fine form has had many wondering why no top-flight club have taken a chance on him despite the former Swansea City and Blackpool striker now being 35.

Well, Dobbie has been speaking to BBC Scotland's Jane Lewis after his four-goal display in Queen of the South's 5-0 thumping of an Ayr side who started the day as league leaders.

And he revealed that only a call from Rangers, with whom he started his career, would entice him away from Palmerston Park, where he is in his third spell.

  7. 'We have to do far better' - Stubbspublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    FT: Hearts 4-1 St Mirren

St Mirren manager Alan Stubbs on BBC Radio Scotland: "We got ourselves back in the game and then we conceded another one which gives them a little lift again through our own downfall.

"At 1-1 you're back in the game - stay in the game. It's not as if the opposition are completely cutting us open; we're contributing significantly to our own demise at the moment.

"They have to learn very quickly. I don't want to point the finger individually - that stays private - but we have to do far better."

  8. Hope Hearts fans 'aren't suffering vertigo'published at 17:39 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    FT: Hearts 4-1 St Mirren

Austin MacPhee, Hearts' assistant manager, hopes today's 4-1 win has kept boss Craig Levein "relaxed" as he continues his recovery.

The Tynecastle manager is recuperating at home after being admitted to hospital on Monday.

Meanwhile, his side remain firmly atop the Scottish Premiership table with four victories from four.

"The main thing was that we put a performance in for the manager," MacPhee said.

"We want him to be relaxed in his recovery and not feel he has to run back in the door.

"Hopefully a 4-1 victory makes him relax and recover in his own time.

"Confidence is the biggest difference from last term and the level of player we've brought in. We've invested a lot in recruitment.

"It's very early days. We are delighted with our form just now.

"I just hope the supporters aren't suffering from vertigo."

  11. Holt pleased with 'winning football'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    FT: Livingston 2-1 Hibernian

Livingston manager Gary Holt on BBC Radio Scotland: “It’s three points and that’s what we wanted, that’s what’s important.

"The performance was brilliant, they gave everything that we asked of them. We scored two really good goals.

"We got the win and to show character to come back from a goal behind is testament to the players."

Holt, who now has two wins from two games as Livi boss, made no apologies for his side's direct style.

"If we suddenly turn up in two weeks’ time and think that we’re good players and we can pass the ball about and be tippy tappy, we’ll get turned over," he said.

"We need to stick to what we’re good at. Stick to the basics and do them, really well and we’ll get results like we got today."

  12. Clarke sympathises over red cardpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 0-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke tells BBC Scotland the red card given to Michael Devlin was harsh. "There was contact," he said. The referee has got to make the call. If I was Derek [Mcinnes], I think I'd be disappointed with the decision.

"We won the game quite comfortably. We could have had a few more goals. Eamonn Brophy did a great job for us up top. Even with 10 men, I thought Aberdeen were still a threat, they didn't stop trying, they kept putting the ball in the box.

"We can't be over excited just because we've won at Aberdeen. It's been a long time coming so Kilmarnock fans will enjoy that. Seven points from the first four games is less than I wanted, it's less than I thought we would get."

    FT: Dundee 1-3 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson was not getting carried away with the win against Dundee.

"We have to stay in the division," he told BBC Scotland. "Our budget dictates that and it's our first aim. We have aims in our dressing room and I have total faith in the boys.

"We played some super football, which we won't get credit for.

"They talk about our fighting qualities, but we showed that we can play football as well."

  14. Wright surprise at Swanson signingpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

FT: Hamilton Academical 1-2 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has revealed that he was not expecting to re-sign Danny Swanson until transfer deadline day.

"We got a phone call at four o'clock yesterday saying Hibs were releasing Danny," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"I asked the chairman a question and he said 'go for it'. The chairman's done well for us in the transfer window and the one surprise for us was getting Danny."

Meanwhile, Wright thought his side, with Swanson sitting in the stand, deserved their win away to Hamilton.

"We deserved to win and were in control for large parts of the game," he said.

"They didn't really threaten us after they got a goal back."

Morton's misery was complete as they lost away to Partick Thistle after losing manager McKinnon yesterday.

  17. FULL-TIME Livingston 2-1 Hibernianpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

After the shock departure of Kenny Miller under two weeks ago, Livingston have made the perfect start under new manager Gary Holt.

Two spectacular second-half strikes from Shaun Byrne and Scott Pittman give them a deserved three points after Daryl Horgan fired Hibs in front from close range.

As for Hibs, they might have considered themselves the better side, but in truth they toiled to create clear chances.

Lewis Stevenson fired a shot just over the bar right on half-time and that's about as close as they came other than Horgan's opening goal.

They're now without a league win since the opening day of the season.

  19. FULL-TIME Dundee 1-3 Motherwellpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

It's been a miserable week for Neil McCann and Dundee.

Defender Steven Caulker, for whom they recently turned down a sizeable transfer bid, walked out on them after triggering a clause in his contract.

A day later and they slump to a bruising home defeat that leaves them three points adrift at the bottom of the table after a fourth defeat in a row.
