Brentford v ReadingImage source, Rex Features

Brentford came close early on to going ahead but there's no let off a second time for Reading as Neal Maupay continues his prolific start to the season with the hosts' opener.

Said Benrahma the provider again as he finds his strike partner in space inside the area before the finish.

  2. PENALTY MISSED BY FOREST!published at 15:12 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Blackburn 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Chance for Nottingham Forest to take the lead at Ewood Park but Lewis Grabban blows it by firing against crossbar and over for the visitors.

Michael Hefele had earlier been fouled by Darragh Lenihan but it remains goalless!

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Birmingham City 0-0 Ipswich Town

Almost a perfect start for Birmingham City against struggling Ipswich.

Jota whips in a corner and it finds Lutkas Jutkiewicz's header which is blocked.

Che Adams then gets the follow up and hits an Ipswich defender before the ball falls to Gary Gardner on the edge of the area and his shot clips the outside of the post.

    Brentford 0-0 Reading

Early pressure at Griffin Park from free-flowing Brentford as Said Benrahma fires a ball across the Reading penalty area in the direction of Romaine Sawyers but Sawyers can't quite get on the end of it for the final touch.

The first goal of our 15:00 BST kick-offs in League One has gone in and it's at the Crown Oil arena!

It's a cracker from Rochdale's Aaron Wilbraham, too - a half-volley into the top corner of the net from 30 yards. Wow.

    High-flying Portsmouth trail early on.

  6. Rangel's returnpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Swansea 0-0 QPR

It's a strange sight for the home fans at the Liberty Stadium to see Angel Rangel on the pitch in the opponents' colours.

The Spanish right-back spent over a decade with Swansea City, joining in 2007 and making 374 appearances before being released at the end of last season.

Rangel is playing for QPR today and, although he's in their pink rather than the white of Swansea, the fans here give him a warm welcome.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

Here we go then - eyes down for 32 matches across the EFL.

Good luck to your respective sides this afternoon, may the footballing gods be smiling on you...

  8. Is history on Preston's side?published at 14:59 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

Preston North End v West Brom (15:00 BST)

Rock-bottom Preston can seek solace in the history books at least as third-placed Albion arrive at Deepdale this afternoon.

West Brom have not won away at Preston in a league match since January 1959 (D3 L8 since), winning 4-2 with a team featuring Bobby Robson and managed by Vic Buckingham.

A win could see Alex Neil's Preston move off the bottom but can they do it?

  10. Can Swans start to improve home form?published at 14:54 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Swansea v QPR (15:00 BST)

Swansea manager Graham PotterImage source, Getty Images

Swansea have only banked five points from their four league fixtures at the Liberty Stadium this season.

On the road they have been flying - eight points from five games - but Graham Potter will be hoping to get back to winning ways on home soil this afternoon

Tom Carroll, fit-again Bersant Celina and Courtney Baker-Richardson, who is available after suspension, all return to the Swans side at the Liberty stadium.

QPR have former Swansea defender Angel Rangel available again following a groin injury and he starts.

This is the first Championship meeting between Swansea and QPR since December 2010, when Neil Warnock's Hoops won 4-0 at Loftus Road.

    Brentford v Reading (15:00 BST)

    Reading celebrateImage source, Rex Features

September 1973 - that's how far you have to go back to the last time Reading kept a clean sheet in a trip to Brentford.

Paul Clement's side managed to shut out Hull City last weekend to record their most impressive result of the season so far in a 3-0 win.

But the Royals' boss knows they will face a stiff examination this afternoon against a Bees side looking for a first win in three league games.

"Brentford are a very offensive side with some quick and direct players so we'll have to be very good on countering that," Clement told BBC Radio Berkshire.

    Media caption,

Brentford have a 100% record at home this season, going into Saturday's match vs Reading.

  12. Rovers enjoying home comfortspublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

Blackburn v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Tony MowbrayImage source, PA

Blackburn certainly enjoy playing league games at Ewood Park these days.

You have to go back to this time last year when they last tasted defeat on home soil in the EFL, against AFC Wimbledon in League One.

Since then, Tony Mowbray's men have gone 24 league matches unbeaten at home and they sit just six matches short of their longest ever unbeaten home league streak - 30 games between April 1911 and December 1912.

Can Forest upset the form book this afternoon against a side their boss Aitor Karanka has never beaten in five matches in the dugout?

  13. All change again for Boro?published at 14:46 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Hull v Middlesbrough (15:00 BST)

    Tony PulisImage source, PA

Boro shuffled their pack this week in the Carabao Cup, making 11 changes for the victory over Preston.

Tony Pulis has stopped short of making 11 more this afternoon for the trip to Hull with the chance his side can go top with a win today.

Hull will hope to erase the memory of their 3-0 loss at Reading last weekend, preferring to tap into some of the good vibes that helped them to a 2-0 win against Ipswich a fortnight ago at home.

But, back-to-back home wins have been hard to come by in recent times. April 2017 was the last time they did so when they won four in a row.

  14. Can Rams keep cup spirit flowing?published at 14:44 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Bolton v Derby (15:00 BST)

    LampardImage source, Rex Features

Quite a night for Derby County on Tuesday as they knocked Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup on penalties.

Harry Wilson and Scott Carson grabbed the headlines at Old Trafford but can Frank Lampard's team maintain their march on the Championship top two?

Bolton haven't tasted a league win against the Rams since August 2012 so the omens are in their favour.

But there has been some fighting spirit from Phil Parkinson's side so far this campaign, including last week at Ipswich where 10 men held on to secure a point for 56 minutes after Marc Wilson's dismissal.

  15. Paul under pressure?published at 14:42 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Birmingham v Ipswich (15:00 BST)

    Paul HurstImage source, Getty Images

If ever a man needed a win this afternoon in the Championship, it's Ipswich boss Paul Hurst.

The former Shrewsbury gaffer is still without one since taking charge of the Tractor Boys this summer and faces a Garry Monk-led Birmingham buoyed by their first three points last week against leaders Leeds no less.

"I don't think we've been far away in our away games so far," Hurst told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"We've been punished in some games by teams who've done very little to us.

"It's been frustrating that we've had to wait so long to get a win, but we'll be looking to get that on Saturday."
