    Napoli 0-0 Liverpool

The Liverpool defending is getting more desperate. Fabián Ruiz gets in between the central defenders, only for Trent Alexander-Arnold to slide in and save the day. When the ball bobbles free, Arkadiusz Milik flashes wide. Danger.

It's been a Messi masterclass tonight...

Andrew: Messi the man does it again at Wembley. Excellent team goal.

Younger audiences might not believe that but there used to be a time English fans doubted Lionel Messi when he played against Premier League sides.

Josh: The problem with Lionel Messi missing chances is you know it's only a very temporary, short lived occurrence. That was coming.

Andrew: Messi the man does it again at Wembley. Excellent team goal.

Eddie: Brilliant combination play by Barcelona once again. Luis Suarez's dummy gifts Messi an easy goal.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Spurs 1-3 Barcelona

Spurs made a change in midfield right after that goal, Eric Dier replacing Victor Wanyama.

  6. Postpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Napoli 0-0 Liverpool

We'd give all the Neapolitan ice cream in Naples for one of those Wembley goals to find its way to Italy. If anything, the composure in front of goal is draining away, rather than increasing. It's all Napoli, too. Liverpool have barely had a kick in the second half.

Barcelona midfielder Arthur goes into the book for a foul on Harry Winks.

  8. Postpublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Spurs 1-3 Barcelona

This is one of the best Champions League performances I've seen from Lionel Messi - and he's only scored once.

    Spurs 1-3 Barcelona

    Andy Townsend

    Stunning, stunning football once more.

Messi started that move, played in Alba and once he realised the cut-back was on got into position, didn't lash at it, just finessed it into the corner.

    Lionel Messi (56 mins)

    Brilliant.

Lionel Messi starts the move in midfield and plays it out to Jordi Alba. The full-back's cross is left by Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez and finds its way to Messi.

This time the Argentine places the ball about two inches to the right of where he hit the post both times and Barca are two ahead again.

    Jacob Bruun Larsen (51 mins)

Jadon Sancho is back at the assist game again.

The English teenager created two goals at the weekend and he's made the opener for Dortmund tonight.

His clever eye-of-the-needle pass unlocks the Monaco defence and substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen calmly slides his finish under Danijel Subasic.

Matt W: People need to realise that a win would be great but a draw would be a good result for Liverpool. Not a great display of football though!

Martin: Jurgen Klopp needs Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge to put some speed into this game.

    Phil McNulty

What a start to this second half as Lionel Messi hits the post twice and Harry Kane puts Spurs right back in it. What a mood-changer. Superb, precise finish and Wembley is suddenly alive again.

  14. Postpublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Spurs 1-2 Barcelona

Harry Kane has scored 10 goals in 12 Champions League appearances.

A great atmosphere at Wembley now.

  15. Postpublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Napoli 0-0 Liverpool

Napoli have built up a head of steam, their fans responding by somehow turning the noise up yet further. A corner from the right gets all the way to the back post, with Allison having to get lot to save.

  16. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    PSV 1-1 Inter

This game is so tight to call.

Moments after Mauro Icardi is denied at one end, PSV break and Gaston Pereiro is so unlucky to see his effort cannon off the post.

Brilliant goal, top, top work from Harry Kane!

He's cut back inside onto his right foot and fired a wonderful shot round Marc-Andre ter Stegen, he had no chance.

    Moussa Marega (49 mins)

    Where are all the defenders?

A corner is floated in from the left and Moussa Marega is all by himself on the six yard line, middle of the goal and he plunders a header into the back of the net.

GOAL - Spurs 1-2 Barcelonapublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Harry Kane (52 mins)

Out of nowhere. Brilliant from Harry Kane and Spurs are back in this.

Son Heung-min picks out the Spurs striker on the edge of the box. He takes it on, shapes to go outside Nelson Semedo - who commits himself. With Semedo on the ground, Kane then cuts the other way and just places the ball past Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Excellent.

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Spurs 0-2 Barcelona

This is an absolute masterclass from Lionel Messi. Again he just runs with grace from the halfway line until he's 20 yards out and again he hits the post.
