    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Wales

Shane Long is always a game trier, but as he tries to get on to a cross from the left he can only tread on the toes of Ben Davies and he goes into the book.

Reminder that the Republic of Ireland, who lost to Wales in their last meeting in September, haven’t suffered consecutive defeats against them since March 1986.

    On the cards now.

Great reaction from Ireland since the goal, they've been on the front foot and asking questions of this Welsh team.

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Wales

Decent reaction from the hosts to be honest, they are piling on some pressure now. Matt Doherty heads a cross back to Jeff Hendrick, just on the edge of the area, he steps around the body of Matt Smith and shoots, but it's well saved by Wayne Hennessey...

The Wales fans making some noise but it's an Ireland corner - Kevin Long can't get on the end of it though...

I think they will go and add to it. That's the way this new Wales team tries to play.

When Ryan Giggs was at Manchester United they never sat back on leads. They would try to get another goal to kill teams off and that is very much what I would expect Wales to do now.

That goal also means that Wales are going top of the group, with the Republic of Ireland facing relegation.

Shane Long runs clear, he's offside but he still can only hit the crossbar with a chip...

If the first 57 minutes were akin to crawling through searing heat in an arid desert, that goal from Harry Wilson has come like the blessed relief of a bottle of water.

Actually, this game has been so bad, it felt like a bottle of champagne. Glorious.

I think it's harsh on Ireland, they have been the slightly better team and then Harry Wilson just conjures up a goal.

I think the keeper, Darren Randolph could have done a little bit better there.

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Wales

Ireland send on Sean Maguire, one PNE striker for another as he replaces Callum Robinson.

It's brilliant from Harry Wilson, from open play he's been anonymous and struggled to make things happen.

Darren Randolph is rooted to the spot, it's a great finish from Harry Wilson.

GOAL - Republic of Ireland 0-1 Walespublished at 58 mins

    Harry Wilson

This boy can hit a free-kick!

It's not quite as good as his one for Derby at Old Trafford, but very few are. But that's still a great hit, Harry Wilson getting prodigious dip and bend on it from 22 yards to smash it into the corner.

Should Darren Randolph have done more? Not so sure he even saw it...

Wild challenge from Harry Arter, who slides in late on Connor Roberts.

Free-kick in a good area, Gareth Bale would fancy this. Harry Wilson scored a screamer of course at Old Trafford...

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 55 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

This has been drab, drab, drab. Shane Long is coming on for the Republic. He is on in place of Aiden O'Brien.

That's where James McClean needs to get because crosses into the box is a weakness of the Wales team.

We saw that against Spain last Thursday with the goals conceded and Ireland haven't exploited it enough.

The Dublin crowd do their best to rouse themselves as James McClean floats over an OK cross from the left and Wayne Hennessey rather flaps at it. There's nobody in green to take advantage though.

Brilliant run from Harry Wilson. Talk about releasing pressure, he just breezed past about four green shirts before James McClean mercilessly chopped him down.

That was the first run we've seen like that from Harry Wilson.
