It was really good movement from Shane Duffy, he dipped towards the ball then peeled off.

    He completely lost Ashley Williams.

    No press, no worries...

Andy: The strategy of being a spectator while the other team keeps possession will surely lead to consequences. Uefa may as well charge each player the full entry price.

Shane Duffy now heads on a corner for Ireland and Wayne Hennessey makes the save. Can we conjure up a goal from somewhere to liven this one up?

It was an instinctive type of finish. It's fizzing and bouncing and he's trying to use the momentum of the ball but that never troubled Darren Randolph.

    A SHOT!published at 36 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

An actual shot! Connor Roberts puts in a good low cross from the Wales right and Tyler Roberts flicks on a shot which is tame and easy for Darren Randolph. But the keeper has at least had to make a save.

I think Harry Arter's reaction has got Ben Davies the yellow card. He does catch him but the way he goes down probably gets him that booking.

Ben Davies is in the book, one of those where a full-back's touch takes him away from the ball and Davies has to lunge in and he catches Harry Arter on the foot. In the book.

Callum Robinson has been the bright spark. He's been causing Wales a problem dropping in.

If Ireland can feed him on the half turn to run at James Chester and Ashley Williams there may be some opportunities from that.

    A Welsh wake up call!

Chiaridina: We look like everyone is either only playing in defence or midfield. Come on .... attack guys!

Cyrus Christie launches in a long throw which is helped on, Aiden O'Brien spins ans tries a shot but it's nowhere.

Have we had a proper long-throw merchant since Rory Delap?

After a lively start both teams are showing their inability to find a cutting edge in the top third of the field. There is no link between Aiden O'Brien and Callum Robinson yet for Ireland.

There's lots of comfortable possession but neither keeper is really getting too flustered about what is happening.

This is pretty dull at the moment, to be honest.

Martin O'Neill is out barking orders to the men in green. He must be delighted with the approach his side have made to the start of this game. The opening 10 minutes was very good, but since then they have admittedly been reduced to largely spectating as Wales keep the ball for fun.

Ireland's fans are so bored that they've started an Icelandic 'thunderclap', 2016's answer to the Mexican Wave.

It's hard to blame them. This has been pretty mediocre so far.

All filler, no killer from Wales so far. They have completed almost 100 more passes than Ireland but haven't troubled Darren Randolph once.

It's all a little too slow for me for Wales with the ball. Ashley Williams just tried a long ball over the top but other than that it's all very short and precise without any penetration.

Tyler Roberts is making run after run without getting the ball.

Smart from David Brooks, who reads a Wayne Hennessey clearance and nips in to win the header for Wales. He can't get anywhere with that though on this occasion.

Brooks is very much the focal point for Wales so far.

Whereas Joe Allen has been targeted by the Republic of Ireland in the past, David Brooks has that honour tonight.

The Bournemouth midfielder has been hacked a few times by James McClean and Kevin Long, and he can expect more of the same tonight.

Wales are finding it difficult to penetrate at the minute. Ireland are not coming out and allowing Wales to find holes.

Ireland have got that pressing side of their game down to a tee.
