Chelsea manager Emma Hayes told BT Sport:

"The first goal was a penalty. Up until then we were dominant and had the chance to go 1-0 up and against the top teams you've got to be clinical.

"I thought we were on top in the game and I thought Arsenal got the goal completely against the run of play but that's the quality they have in front of goal and I don't think we possessed that.

"There was a fragility with us defensively, especially after it went 2-0 - you are chasing the game, gaps open and then you look even more vulnerable.

"I think 5-0 flatters them but, equally, I don't think we tested their goalkeeper enough today. Arsenal are certainly the team to beat in the league at the moment."

    Chelsea Women 0-5 Arsenal Women

Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro told BT Sport:

“We were a little bit different today. Chelsea attack in numbers and we just felt that if we were smart enough and patient enough, we would expose them on the break and we found the spaces and created opportunities.

“We are a team that likes the ball, we like to exploit teams going forward, we like to play a fluid brand in the top third and we feel we are very hard to mark when we are interchanging areas.

“Chelsea opened us up in the first seven or eight minutes and it could have been a different game if they went 1-0 up but we reacted well."

It was a happier day today for Jordan Nobbs than on Tuesday night when she was part of an England side controversially held to a draw by Australia.

  7. Reds hold onpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

FT: Liverpool Women 2-1 Yeovil Town Ladies

Football can be a cruel game at times and that was certainly the case at Prenton Park.

Liverpool have just managed to edge victory thanks to that late goal from Jess Clarke.

Yeovil, who are approaching two years without a league win, remain rooted to the foot of the WSL table.

Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs praised fellow two-goal heroine Vivianne Miedema, telling BT Sport:

“The way she has been performing and scoring goals for us has been frightening but I think the whole team put in a shift today and we really deserved the points.

“I am really proud of the girls today. It’s tough coming here and playing a top team. We know there are going to be bigger games ahead as well."

HT: Bristol City Women 0-0 Birmingham City Women

Home goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley is getting the praise from her team-mates leaving the pitch at half-time. Her penalty save, denying Aoife Mannion from 12 yards, means the score is goalless at the interval in Bristol.

  10. Brighton secure first pointpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

FT: Everton Ladies 3-3 Brighton Women

    What a game in Southport.

Two late goals from Ellie Brazil earns a share of the spoils for Brighton, who had been in front as early as the third minute.

Everton will be kicking themselves though, after letting a 3-1 lead slip.

Both sides remain without a win.

Another spectacular win for Arsenal as their 100 per cent start to the season goes on.

A goal difference of +18 isn't too shabby four games in, is it?

Reigning champions Chelsea were run ragged as their proud 25-game unbeaten WSL record bit the dust.

The Blues are seeking a consolation here and Ramona Bachmann flashes a fierce strike across goal and inches wide.

But Arsenal are comfortable - and their only real concern today has been an injury to the influential Kim Little who was forced off midway through this second half.

If the score stays like this, Arsenal will have scored 33 goals in their opening six games.

An impressive stat. But just as impressive is the fact their goals have come from eight different players.

Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema - who has bagged a brace today - is top scorer on nine.

But Kim Little (seven), Jordan Nobbs (four), Danielle van de Donk (four) and Katie McCabe (four) are not far behind.

McCabe is only on the bench today. Chelsea, who look totally shell-shocked here, should perhaps be thankful for that.

  15. What a turnaroundpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

    Everton Ladies 3-3 Brighton Women

Two set-pieces and two goals from Ellie Brazil in a matter of minutes has put Brighton back on level terms!

Neither side had scored in 270 minutes of WSL football coming into this one, but we've got a six-goal thriller on our hands. Who would have thought it possible?

We've got ten minutes to play. Time for a winner...

  16. Spot-kick savedpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

Bristol City Women 0-0 Birmingham City Women

September's player of the month in the WSL was Bristol City goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley and she's just shown why, keeping out Aoife Mannion's penalty kick.

Emma Follis was felled by Danique Kerkdijk in the area, but Mannion's spot-kick was superbly kept out.

  17. Everton set for first WSL win?published at 15:31 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

    Chelsea Women 0-5 Arsenal Women

This is some statement from Arsenal.

In recent seasons, they have been somewhat overhauled by the new blood in the women's game - namely Chelsea and Manchester City.

But this win - and their amazing goal record this season - shows they are back as serious title contenders.

It's as if they saw City's result earlier today and thought 'anything you can do, we can do better'.

    Jordan Nobbs

Jordan Nobbs makes it five. Arsenal are in absolute dreamland here.

With Chelsea pressing to try to claim at least a consolation, Arsenal spring them on the counter and Beth Mead threads Nobbs through to slot past Carly Telford for the England woman's second goal of the game.

Two for Nobbs, two for Vivianne Miedema, one for Kim Little. And five for Arsenal.

  20. Blues see runs go up in Gunners' smokepublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

    Chelsea Women 0-4 Arsenal Women

Let's put this into some sort of context.

Chelsea are the reigning champions. They won last season's WSL title without losing a game.

The Blues have not lost in the WSL since May 2017. They haven't lost a home game since May 2016.

Those proud records are coming to an emphatic halt today. Arsenal have just blown them away.
