Chelsea Women v Arsenal Women (14:00 BST)

Chelsea and Arsenal are both putting their unbeaten league starts on the line in this afternoon's encounter so we could be in for a ding-dong derby. Here are the respective line-ups...

Chelsea Women: Telford, Thorisdottir, Bright, Carter, Ji, Kirby, Eriksson, Engman, Andersson, Bachmann, Spence. Subs: Lindahl, Blundell, Ingle, Riley, Carney, Cuthbert, England.

Arsenal Women: Peyraud-Magnin, Evans, Williamson, Bloodworth, Mitchell, Walti, Little, Nobbs, van de Donk, Mead, Miedema Subs: Van Veenendaal, McCabe, Quinn, Samuelsson, Kuyken.

That's seven subs for Chelsea but only five for Arsenal - in terms of squad depth, should we read anything into that? No doubt the answer will emerge as the season progresses.

    So close!

West Ham have been far better in this second period and go within a whisker of a goal as Brianna Visalli sees a low shot from the edge of the box deflect off defender Jen Beattie before clipping the outside of the post.

The visitors waste the resultant corner, but there's no doubt boss Matt Beard will be far happier with what he's seen so far in this 45.

Well this is better from West Ham.

This time Jane Ross crosses from the right and Julia Simic advances unchallenged into the box. The German midfielder shoots first time, which made it difficult for her and the ball sails over the top.

  5. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

Man City Women 3-0 West Ham Women

    What a chance!

Jane Ross has to score after being put through by Julia Simic's fantastic through pass.

Credit Man City keeper Ellie Roebuck for rushing out to save with her body, but Ross will be kicking herself.

Trailing 3-0, I wonder if West Ham boss Matt Beard mentioned the word 'Istanbul' in the away team dressing room at the break?

"Let's go out and win the second half," is probably more likely.

No changes at the break and we're back under way in soggy Manchester.

“Man City’s players are all smiles. The job’s not done yet though and they have to go out there and put in another good performance over the next 45 minutes. I’m sure spaces will open up because West Ham have to come out and attack Man City.”

The Lady Glovers have lost all three of their matches so far, while the Reds have won one from three.

It's fair to say the hosts are cruising here at the Academy Stadium as the half-time whistle blows.

What can Matt Beard inspire in the West Ham dressing room at the interval?

Caroline Weir's radar is off this time and her free kick is headed clear.

Longhurst, meanwhile, is still getting treatment and West Ham play on with 10 players at present.

A sliding challenge from Jill Scott has Katie Longhurst in tears.

Scott's challenge was a fair one, but she caught Longhurst's ankle on the follow through. The midfielder hobbles to the sidelines.

To make matters worse for West Ham, Man City still have a free kick to follow from 25 yards.

Man City's confidence is pretty high. Skipper Steph Houghton has just taken a shot from 45 yards.

West Ham keeper Becky Spencer drops to her right to make a comfortable save by getting both gloves on the ball - a rarity so far this afternoon.

You have to feel for Jane Ross.

The Scotland international striker traded Man City for West Ham in the summer, but she's hardly had a kick back on her old stomping ground.

All of a sudden Ross finds herself charging clear on to Ria Pervical's pass - but the assistant referee's flag is up for offside.

Aston Villa Ladies 0-0 Durham Women

It's been an emotional week for everybody connected with Aston Villa.

Villa Ladies paid their respects to Doug Ellis with a minute's silence before kick-off in their WSL Championship game against Durham after the former Villa chairman's death at the age of 94 earlier this week.

Julia Simic has just passed up a great chance to get West Ham on the scoresheet.

Kate Longhurst wins a crucial header in the box and Simic was left unmarked, but the German has dragged her shot narrowly wide of the far post.

It's the kind of chance you need to take when you trail 3-0.

  19. Watch: Parris rounds the keeper to score her second goalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 14 October 2018

It's been one-way traffic from the start.

Nikita Parris is certainly enjoying herself...and now she's on a hat-trick. You wouldn't back against her scoring again at this rate.

It's worth pointing out that West Ham are playing their first season in the WSL.

This has been a bit of a lesson for the London club, who picked up their first top-flight win against Yeovil Town last month.

As the half-hour mark approaches West Ham midfielder Brianna Visalli sees a shot blocked by Gemma Bonner. It was probably just creeping on target.
