That's the influence Pep Guardiola has had on the Premier League. Our best teams are having to set up to contain and acknowledge the superiority of his side.

I can't argue with what Maurizio Sarri is doing. Chelsea need to gain confidence - yes they'll have to have a go at some point but this is the right approach from Chelsea's point of view.

This Chelsea approach is entirely valid, and sensible. Tactically Chelsea are playing it very safety first.

Manchester City win a corner but they play it short, and it ends up back in their own half. It's not just me getting annoyed by this, some Chelsea fans behind the goal make their frustration known.

Still yet to have a shot on goal. THERE IT IS.

Sergio Aguero takes a Bernardo Silva cross on his chest, turns Pedro and fires over the top. Good effort.

Should City be down to 10? There wasn't much contact but Zinchenko was the last man. I think N'Golo Kante may have handled the ball anyway, although there was no VAR review called for by Jon Moss. It's the only talking point so far in what has been a very drab opening.

If you like sideways passes between centre-halves this is an Oscar winner.

Clear foul on Kante. Not only a free kick but a straight red! Moss bottled it.

    Chris in Billericay.

Should be a red card for Zinchenko.

Manchester City dominating possession but Chelsea looking secure so far. Maurizio Sarri already making notes and stalking around his technical area.

Looks like City will have to be patient while Chelsea are closing doors quickly in the defensive areas. Game not really taken off yet.

Sarri-ball v Tiki-taka? It's pretty dull so far. Although Chelsea were 2-0 down at this stage of the league game between these two the other week so it's perhaps understandable.

Jonah: Scrappy start to proceedings, typical of this kind of big fixture. I hope Chelsea's final know-how and big game experience will pull them over the line today. Up the Chels!

Great ball from David Luiz! He hits a direct, long ball over the top and N'Golo Kante is almost in on goal for Chelsea, he goes to ground but ref Jon Moss says that's no foul from Oleksandr Zinchenko. Good ball though and Kante showing once again that he is a threat going forwards.

(Please don't start the debate about the fact that he should be playing where Jorginho does.)

What will Manchester City do once Fernandinho can't carry on? He's outstanding at what he does, almost effortlessly adapting his position to cut out a pass from N'Golo Kante and stop a Chelsea attack before it even started.

All the play so far has come from Manchester City. Dominant without being dangerous. Yet.

Sergio Aguero puts a cross in which hits the arm of Antonio Rudiger, he turned his back on the cross and it was never going to be much of a penalty claim. As I mentioned earlier, we do have VAR today though. Good news or bad news?

Eden Hazard very much up front on his own in these very early stages as Chelsea adopt pretty much a 4-5-1. Pedro and Willian asked to do plenty of donkey work down the flanks.

Ref Jon Moss checked with VAR whether that was an elbow - could have had a red card in the first minute! No danger though. City do win a corner after 50 seconds but Chelsea clear.

Pep Guardiola shakes hands with Gianfranco Zola on the sidelines. Great to see Zola fit and well - he was in hospital this week after gallstones surgery.

As I said on Thursday, having had my gall bladder chopped out last year it's the closest I've ever felt to Zola's Godlike genius.

It really, really hurt, I can assure you of that. He looks good though next to Maurizio Sarri.
