The fear of not being able to get into the Manchester City team must be on the players all the time. That is why they can perform the way they do week in, week out.

Twin goals for Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri here at Wembley in the Carabao Cup Final - avenge the 6-0 mauling at Manchester City earlier this month and fashion the result that could keep him at Stamford Bridge a little longer.

The stakes are that high for the Italian.

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on Sky Sports: "All the Chelsea players have pride, they want to avoid another 6-0 defeat but it is a completely different game, different competiiton. Hopefully we can play the game like a final deserves to be played.

"For the club, for the players it is important to win another trophy, not for me."

  6. "We know we can do better than 0-6"published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2019

Chelsea v Manchester City (16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri on Sky Sports: "We lost 6-0 to City but since then we have played every three days so it is very difficult to work on the team. We have tried to improve.

"Two months ago we won against them but we played with a very high level of application, in Manchester we played a superficial match and lost 6-0. We know we can do better than that."

Is winning today important for your future?

"Of course I cannot understand why you ask me something like this, you know I can only give you my opinion. You have to ask the club I think."

Former Chelsea captain John Terry on Sky Sports: "The frustration at Chelsea has been from the stubbornness of the manager to not change his team, his system. I was at the Manchester United game last Monday and in all my 22 years at the club I can't remember the fans turning like that.

"There is still a lot of quality in the Chelsea team though."

Seeing team announcement I'm not so unhappy at being stuck at Norwich airport awaiting flight home so missing the game. #stuckinnorwich

Any optimism I had has been quashed by such a disappointing starting line up. Good bye Sarri.

Pep Guardiola could become the fourth manager to win consecutive League Cups, after Brian Clough (1978-1979 and 1989-1990), Bob Paisley (1981-1983) and Alex Ferguson (2009-2010).

Guardiola was Barcelona manager when they beat Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley in the 2011 Champions League final. He also won the trophy at Wembley with Barça as a player, beating Sampdoria 1-0 after extra time in the 1992 final.

This will be the game that seals Sarri's fate. Definitely going to be sacked...Hazard a false number nine again? When will he learn? No plan A because it doesn't work as for plan B? Last game for Sarri.
