    Darren Fletcher
Former Man Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Mason Greenwood is a recognised goalscorer who has banged in goals in for the youth team so why not put him on?

The club has high hopes for him. I've heard a lot about him and young players can surprise you, so why not give him a chance.

    Breaking

The big breaking news story in the UK - Theresa May survives a vote of confidence in her leadership (200 voted for, 117 voted against).

She needed to secure at least 159 votes from Conservative MPs - half the parliamentary party plus one - to remain as leader.

Follow that live with BBC News here.

  7. 'Flashes of movement'published at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2018

    Valencia 1-0 Man Utd

    Darren Fletcher
Former Man Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

It wasn't a great performance from Manchester United in the first half. There were flashes of movement and understanding in midfield between Juan Mata, Fred, Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba.

But then the defence is too deep and the full-backs aren't overlapping. Romelu Lukaku looks isolated. In midfield they look quite sharp but then you need the whole 11 to be like that.

It just seems like it is three or four players against Valencia's back 10 and they are never going to have an impact.

It's disappointing with Juventus losing because United could top the group and these little margins can help you in the tournament.

    Valencia 1-0 Man Utd

Manchester United would finish top of their group with a win tonight, and a Juventus loss to Young Boys. The Swiss side are doing their bit!

Watching another abject Utd performance and my son asked me why we support them - it's a good question!

    Alan

I don't suppose the slow play and poor movement from Man Utd could have anything to do with Pogba being back in the side?

    Dave, Cumbria

Glad to see these glory hunters outing themselves, now that United have found themselves in a barren run of form and success; let them instead join the City and Liverpool bandwagons and enjoy better fortune there. We could use some more passionate home support in OT in their place, let's find strength in adversity, like in the 70s and 80s when I was a lad.

As things stand, Manchester City win Group F and Shakhtar Donetsk will join them in the last 16 - they lead Lyon 1-0. The French side, who have squandered plenty of opportunities, only need a draw to progress.

Juventus top Group H despite being 1-0 down to Young Boys - because Manchester United are also losing.

Bayern Munich will win Group E if they hold onto their 1-0 lead over second-placed Ajax. Robert Lewandowski has scored his 20th goal of the season.

Benfica and AEK Athens are drawing their dead rubber.

    Valencia 1-0 Man Utd

No efforts on target for United in that half.

Manchester United have had no more than one shot on target during the first half in five of their six group stage matches this season (3 v Young Boys in opening match).

That's fantastic from Leroy Sane. He has leathered that with plenty of bend right over the wall. It was brilliant.

That will be a hard one for Hoffenheim to take going into half time.

Very good game - Hoffenheim have been excellent.

GOAL - Man City 1-1 Hoffenheimpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2018

    Leroy Sane (45 mins)

Great strike! What a free-kick from Leroy Sane! He runs straight on to the ball, Ronaldo-like, and just booms it over the wall. He gets enough dip and curve to take the ball away from the dive of Oliver Baumann and into the corner.

    Fabulous technique.

Hoffenheim were in all sorts of trouble then because they didn't realise that Gabriel Jesus had come back on the pitch for Manchester City.

They thought they had an extra man to play the ball around and were caught out.

Thomas Knights: Another dreadful 45 minutes from Manchester United, not enough movement, midfield lacking in composure and technique and a defensive mess

Regular Jon:Another game, another woeful performance from “Manchester United”. This isn’t the club I’ve loved and been obsessed with over the last 30 years. The future looks bleak

City press well and win it back high up the pitch, Raheem Sterling squares it to Phil Foden but his shot is well charged down. Great defending.

Manchester City usually get stronger and can break teams down the longer it goes. But the problem they have is that Hoffenheim are a very, very fit side.

It could be tough all the way to the end for City.
