Monty: So VAR is allowing and disallowing goals and giving penalties even when the TV screen the ref is supposed to use is broken! How is it possible to use part of the tech but not all of it? Ridiculous.

Harry: VAR is a joke. People should come together to put an end to this madness. Ruining the game of football as it was supposed to be.

Helles Mammut: VAR is absolutely disastrous... To judge that situation you just have to turn it around, would he have given penalty for that? Obviously not, it was more a tumble or even dive by Chiellini who had lost his position... VAR is a farce.

The referee could not watch Schalke's first penalty decision back on the monitor as it was not working...

If the technology's broken, tough. You have to go with the on-field decision. That's what it should have been, that's what you've got to stay with.

If Uefa says it's down to the referee and his call, that's what it should be.

You're talking about a multi-million pound industry and they've only got one monitor? Stick it on the jumbo-tron! It's ridiculous.

Otamendi's second booking just looked like a coming-together. I'm not convinced there is enough there. Not every foul is a yellow card. Otamendi just stands there and they collide.

This is how Atletico reacted to some VAR decisions going against them in the Madrid derby a week and a half ago...

Here comes Leroy Sane - he replaces Sergio Aguero. He is on a booking as well and would miss the second leg if he got another one. Could be a smart call.

Bernardo Silva goes close, dribbling in from the right and firing over from the middle of the penalty area.

Whoever's head of VAR at Uefa can expect to come into quite a few emails in the morning...

Kevin de Bruyne goes close with a deflected free-kick as 10-man Manchester City look for a leveller. Leroy Sane is about to come on against his old club.

Atletico Madrid will be hugely aggrieved by that decision but once you start slowing it down you can see why they have overturned that one. Alvaro Morata headed into the net but he did push Giorgio Chiellini in the back. Whether it was enough to put the defender off balance is another question...
