This is clearly something City have thought about. They're quite a small team. Aerially, they're not fantastic. They're trying to do things a bit differently from set-pieces.

Fine free-kick from Manchester City, think England v Panama as they play it short, David Silva spins away down the left and is free to whip in a cross which Sergio Aguero heads on goal. Ralf Fahrmann tips it over!

An absolute sky blue tide of pressure...

I think this is dangerous from Schalke. They're sitting very deep, they're all within 30 yards of their goal - except for the striker.

They're allowing City to dominate and they've got so much quality it's very difficult to stay focused for 90 minutes without making a mistake.

Schalke are sitting very, very deep and City have nearly got in behind twice already. Schalke keeper Ralf Fahrmann slides out feet first to tackle Sergio Aguero who nearly had an early chance.

No joy but that wa sa good shout.

European football writer Archie Rhind-Tutt has just told BBC Radio 5 live that Leroy Sane should expect a warm welcome from Schalke fans because he didn't leave the club for one of their rivals. He's only on the bench tonight.

Very interesting. They are currently showing a film about how VAR will work tonight on the big screens inside the stadium. I’m not too sure how many fans are watching it and those who are watching it may be struggling to understand how it will be implemented. We will find out soon...

  18. Not thinking about trophies just yetpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

Schalke v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on BT Sport: "Germany has physical football and has talented players. If you let them run and make mistakes on the ball, it will be difficult to control them. This is the Champions League so any side you face are full of strength and we have to impose ourselves.

"We see the quality in the opponent, especially when we are not used to playing against them."

Asked if City start to think about winning trophies now...

"To ask this now is silly. We will accept this kind of question in May, it is still in February. We have still a lot of games to play. When you start to think about the big trophies, you can lose everything in one week. We are in a good position but if we lose three in-a-row, we are out. We do not even dream for one second about winning the Champions League, we are only thinking about today."

  19. 'To win three or four would be miraculous'published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

Schalke v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

    Danny Mills
Former Man City defender on BBC Radio 5 live

For City to win three or four trophies would be miraculous. To do that they would need a massive slice of luck at some point because anything can happen in just the one game and it destroys it for you.

If they could pick one, it'd be the Champions League. The fans, I don't know, maybe they're a bit split. There doesn't seem a great deal of admiration for this competition. If they win it, that might change.
