And that may well be the most bizarre sentence I shall ever write as a 'professional.'

    An exception to the rule

There are lots of young players at Manchester United who have potential but they are nowhere near world class. It is a Man Utd squad that needs rebuilding.

There are no excuses anymore and the players have to show Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that they are Man Utd players.

I agree entirely with your front 6 Tom [see 19:04], but leaving out Puyol and Marquez from your back four is almost treasonous.

Such a tough team to pick. Full of 'nice problems to have.' Koeman is in on FK duty, Pique gets the nod for mobility.

Barcelona v Man Utd (Agg: 1-0, 20:00 BST)

Cristiano Ronaldo took his frankly silly scoring record up to 125 Champions League goals with a header against Ajax in the first leg.

It put him 17 goals ahead of his nearest rival Lionel Messi. Can the Barcelona forward - nearly three years younger - catch him?

I did some questionable maths over here. Take a look.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has scored 22 goals in 31 Champions League games against English opponents, more than any other player in the competition.

Thirteen of those strikes have come in his last nine against English sides at Camp Nou, including hat-tricks vs Arsenal (April 2010) and Manchester City (October 2016).

The biggest thing I'm worried about tonight is Lionel Messi. He didn't have his best game at Old Trafford and he will have something to prove tonight.

Tonight could be the night this squad gets shown up. These players are fantastic because they play for Manchester United but when you look at that squad and the job Ole Gunnar Soslkjaer has to rebuild, it's quite frightening.

They could be exposed. Most of Man City's second or third string players would start at Man Utd, and there are 12 or 13 players you could get rid of quite easily.

90% of Manchester United’s Champions League goals this season have come away from home (9/10). However, the Red Devils have won just one of their last five away knockout stage games in the competition (D2 L2).

Marcus Rashford has been linked with a transfer to Barcelona this week and it could be an evening that sets him up as one of the best players in the world.

They have got the belief from winning at PSG. Tonight will be a bigger test but they have to believe they can pick their moments and keep Barcelona out.

    Juventus v Ajax (20:00 BST)

    Juve

Juventus opt to bring in Paolo Dybala, rather than Moise Kean, to replace Mario Mandzukic as the central prong of a three-man attack.

Elsewhere Emre Can brings bite to the hosts' midfield, replacing Uruguayan Rodrigo Bentacur and Mattia De Sciglio is in for Joao Cancelo at right-back.

    Cristiano Ronaldo, of course, starts.

    Ajax

Midfield wonderkid Frenkie De Jong is in the starting line-up for Ajax despite limping off in the weekend win over Excelsior with a hamstring problem. There is just one change from the first leg with Noussair Mazraoui coming in for Nicolas Tagliafico at full-back.

Former Southampton string-puller Dusan Tadic, ex-Manchester United utility man Daley Blind and reported Premier League target David Neres all start.

Man Utd went with a back five in the first leg but they were at sixes and sevens for the goal. It looks like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone to a back four tonight and they have got pace. They weren't a threat at all at Old Trafford but Marcus Rashford could cause Barcelona a problem through the middle. I think they will have to score more than one.

    Manchester United

It's three changes in all for Manchester United from the first leg.

Luke Shaw is suspended so Phil Jones comes in. Will Jones play right back with Ashley Young moving to the left? We'll see.

Up front it's back to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's preferred front three from the start of his reign. Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard join Marcus Rashford in attack. Romelu Lukaku drops to the bench. Alexis Sanchez and Nemanja Matic are there alongside the Belgian.

Man Utd: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Lindelof, Young, McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Martial.

Subs: Romero, Matic, Sanchez, Lukaku, Dalot, Andreas, Mata.

    Barcelona

Barcelona make just the one change from the first leg.

Sergi Roberto replaces Nelson Semedo at right back.

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho are up front once again.

Barcelona: Ter Stegen, Roberto, Pique, Lenglet, Alba, Rakitic, Busquets, Arthur, Messi, Suarez, Coutinho.

Subs: Cillessen, Semedo, Dembele, Malcom, Vidal, Umtiti, Alena
