The control and calmness to finish the way Donny van de Beek did summed up the first half. He turned inside the area and there was no pressure on him at all. Spurs were just running around like they were in a practice match.

They never really got into their stride and they were being dominated by a young side. It was a bit of a let down.

Prince Nnaji: Good job Ajax! But Imagine if Kane and Son played. I think the team that will win the CL this season will play tomorrow!

John: If I was an Ajax fan, I’d be looking at hotels in Madrid. They are 80% there

Rodney: Despite all the hype we heard about Spurs' new ground and its atmosphere, all we can hear is the 3,000 away fans.

Ajax have kept their first away clean-sheet in a Champions League knockout match for the first time since 17 April 1996, when they beat Panathinaikos 3-0 in the semi-finals.

Spurs failed to score in the Champions League for the first time in 21 matches.

  5. 'No creativity, no width'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 30 April 2019

    FT: Tottenham 0-1 Ajax

Former Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle on BT Sport: "Very, very disappointing. No creativity, no width. It was a very lacklustre performance.

"They didn't move the ball quick enough. Yes they are missing some key players - Harry Kane and Son Heung-min - but it was still disappointing."

Thoughts? Spurs paid for a very poor first half. The good news is it's only 1-0. They could have quite easily been 2-0 down within 20 minutes. The post also came to their aid in the second half.

The tie is definitely not over though. One goal in Amsterdam will bring Spurs level. As for Ajax... boy, they just keep getting better and better.

I thought that was creeping in. Hugo Lloris was grounded and David Neres just stroked it with his left foot.

It was a cultured finish but it just hits the post.
