It does appear handball was the correct decision, based on what Uefa's head of refereeing Roberto Rosetti told the Times, external in January.

“If the position of the arm is natural or normal we cannot penalise a player. There is the concept of ‘deliberate’ but it is not easy to see that because I can’t say I have ever seen a defender deliberately doing a handball.

“The big challenge is the position of the arm. When the arm is totally out of the body above the shoulder it should be penalised, If the defender is making the body bigger in order to block the ball it is not fair."

Accidental handball will be a free-kick (or penalty) if a player's hand or arm has made their body "unnaturally bigger".

Harry Kane has barely had any impact so far - although in his defence he has not had much to feed off. This has been a pretty ordinary game and it is reflected in an atmosphere that is a bit flat.

Nathan Marzan: I really hope that soft penalty doesn't decide this game. Spurs are playing positive football and I would love to see them get back into this.

Steve Huish: I would take Kane off at half time as he just isn’t in the game. Get Moura on as he has pace to attack.
