Block! Spurs go direct again, feeding Dele Alli in behind but his shot is charged down by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

    There are signs of life.

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold whistles over a delightful early cross but it's a yard too heavy for Mo Salah. Where's the second goal coming from?

Salah suddenly looks lively, cutting in from the right and having a shot charged down. Hugo Lloris then claims a cross brilliantly. Best spell for the Reds in ages.

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Moussa Sissoko starts another Spurs attack, Christian Eriksen finds Harry Winks on the right and he's well shut out by Andy Robertson. Spurs had numbers forwards, they have been the better side all night.

Liverpool have produced next to nothing. But they lead.

Spurs free-kick, taken quickly for Son, laid back to Jan Vertonghen and his shot is charged down. Ah, Son was offside anyway.

I'm beginning to think those people on Mumsnet who banned the game at a wedding were on to something.

The Spurs fans continue to be in full voice, can their beloved produce on the pitch as well?

Simon Turner: Both Kane and Firmino were passengers in the first half, but both have that ability to seize on a half-chance which is certainly why Poch will leave Kane out there for as long as he wants.

Benhard Nawaseb: If Spurs want to win this, they have to bring on Harry Kane in the 2nd half.

The most dynamic person on the pitch so far was that female pitch invader earlier on.

    Get in the game lads!

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Good ball, pinged in from the right-hand side by Son, who has started more as a winger. It's cleared though. Then Hugo Lloris goes direct, Harry Kane looks for team-mates inside but he can't find one.

    Spurs fans in full voice.

Lee Jamieson: Should open up in the second half, Tottenham surely have to go for it.

Anthony Miller: Tottenham haven't done enough, the penalty is soft in my opinion but at this level you have to do more

Peter: I really think both sides are more afraid of losing than they are looking forward to winning!

Right then Tottenham, how are you going to make a game of this? Step one - have a shot on target.

  12. 'Spurs must be quicker, more effective'published at 21:05 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

    Sean Dyche
Burnley manager on BBC Radio 5 live

Mauricio Pochettino has to sort out dealing with the ball better.

Tottenham have to play quicker, they have to be more effective and players need to get turned.

They have to ask questions, they've tried but not with any real quality. If they keep playing like this without the zip they can play with then Liverpool will contain them well.

Kane hasn't had the service, but he stays focused and finds a chance. How long do you believe he'll find the chance - that's the big call of the manager.

Some people actually inside the stadium are saying it's too hot to play in the way these sides do. Heat a factor?

    Play it in Baku.

(That doesn't work as it's hot in Baku as well)

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool have completed 101 passes; their fewest in the first half of a game across all competitions this season.

Still, as I said, nobody remembers the first half of big games do they. All about the end...

  17. 'Liverpool doing the ugly things well'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

    Sean Dyche
Burnley manager on BBC Radio 5 live

This is a massive occasion, there'll be a nervousness. Usually that goes early in the game but it hasn't - it seems to have lingered.

Neither side will be overwhelmed with their performance, certainly there's a lot more to come from both, I would say.

Spurs must speed up their play, I think they have to mix it up a bit more, stretch the game out - that all sounds very easy but it's not so easy when you've got Liverpool against you.

Liverpool are doing the ugly things very well at the minute and can obviously hurt you on the counter, so it's going well for Liverpool so far.

  18. 'Game suits Liverpool'published at 20:57 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It suits Liverpool so far, they're sitting in, nice and tight, like a coiled spring ready to unleash that speed and power they have up front.

What has been disappointing from Tottenham is they haven't worked Alisson once in that first half and Pochettino will be addressing that at half time.

  19. Kane a gamble too far?published at 20:57 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

That was a half to rival David Brent's trip to Alton Towers when it comes to disappointments.

Still, could be worse. The Go Compare man has spent north of £15k to watch that.
