Arsenal needed to win the Europa League final to earn a place in next season's Champions League but after a tame first half in Baku, Chelsea blew them away.

We had five goals in 23 minutes as Chelsea, led by the brilliant Eden Hazard, won the trophy.

After the game Hazard all but confirmed that he would be leaving the club.

Speaking to BT Sport, Chelsea forward Eden Hazard said: "It was good. I think both teams were playing with a bit of stress in the first half because it was a final, but when Olivier scored, it was the beginning of a great night. We played well and controlled the game and I'm happy to leave this trophy with the boys. The manager said to carry on playing football at the break and today we showed our mentality."

On his future: "We will decide in a few days and the only target in my mind tonight was to win this final. I have made my decision already and now I'm waiting on both clubs. I think it is a goodbye, but in football you never know. My dream was to play in the Premier League and I have done that for one of the biggest clubs so maybe now it is the time for a new challenge."

Even I'm feeling emotional. What a performance by Eden Hazard with two goals and it is probably goodbye after seven years of fantastic service to this football club.

I think every fan in the Premier League will be sad to see him leave.

Speaking to BT Sport, Arsenal manager Unai Emery said: "First is congratulations to Chelsea. In the first half we played with good opportunities to take a good result. We got to the box with good options and chances to score but the first goal changed the game.

"We tried to stay in the match but their second goal made it difficult for us. It was going better for them and when we wanted to do something, we couldn't find what we needed to score. They deserved to win."

You have to look at the teams above Arsenal. They're way off competing for the Premier League right now. We knew that at the start of the season when Unai Emery took over and that hasn't changed. He's got a huge job ahead of him. If you said at the start of the season 'get in the top four', that would have been a huge success for them. They've failed on that front, but the underlying work that Emery has to do is based on them without the ball.

Arsenal may be better off shipping a couple of good players out and looking for three or four characters. The great Arsenal teams that I remember had character and when that first goal went in I didn't really see a lot of it tonight. I think that's where Emery needs to juggle the squad. I think one or two need to be moved on, maybe even Mesut Ozil. If you can bring in three or four characters it might be better than one big signing.

Maurizio Sarri's actually built something which is really nice looking and I've enjoyed watching it being built.

We'd been talking about Jorginho and Mesut Ozil, and whoever won that battle would make a big difference in the game, and Jorginho was immense.

If Jorginho left right now, Man City would batter the door down to take him. That's how good a player he is.

I'd love to see Sarri get another year, he deserves it, to see if he can develop it further.

Chelsea

Chelsea defender David Luiz: "We had some ups and downs but we have improved a lot and learned a lot this season. We finished well and won a trophy. It is my third title in Europe with Chelsea, they believe in my game. Sarri is a great guy, a great coach and he deserves this.

"The manager did amazing for this club. I don't know about speculation, now is the time to talk about the title."

It'll be interesting to hear where Maurizio Sarri goes from here. Is he going to make some statement and say 'listen guys, there's your trophy. You wanted someone else, you can have your wish - I'm off!'

He might well do that, who knows.

If Arsenal won tonight, think of the money you would get from being in the Champions League next season. Think of the kudos from being able to bring in players that won't come in for a Europa League season. This 90 minutes was massively important, it might affect the team for 18-24 months going forward. That's hard to take.

With the ball, on their day, Arsenal can compete, they can create chances. All the problems seem to jump out when you get to the back end of the team, and it's not just about the personnel, it's about how they play. Unai Emery's still unsure over five at the back or a back four. He's chopped and changed all season. That won't change until you have recruitment that stabilises the back four.

It's a learning curve, a learning process. He needs to be given time, he needs to be given money for recruitment. How much money and what recruitment he does is his next big test. It's a big summer for him.

Speaking to BT Sport, Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech said: "I'm proud of myself and I'm proud of the way I played today because when you play your last career game in the final there is a lot of pressure and speculation.

"I had to perform and I have to say I have done everything I can, and I can look back with no regrets apart from the fact we worked so hard all year to finish with nothing. This group of players do not deserve it because of how much work has been done this season.

"It is easy to say we finish empty-handed but I can assure everyone that the work we have done will mean this team comes back much stronger next year."

On his future: "I kept saying I wanted to lift the trophy and then think about it. Until 30 June, I am an Arsenal player."

It seems like we are not going to get any Mauurizio Sarri reaction just yet. BT have gone off air...

Petr Cech says he is proud of his career and of his final performance.

Quite right too. He made four saves tonight and saved Arsenal from an absolute shoeing.

If you have followed his career from the time he arrived in England in 2004 you will know just how good he was. Fantastic keeper.

Eden Hazard is the most skillful player that's ever played for Chelsea, and that's saying something because look at the quality of players that Chelsea have had. He's astonishing.

Frank Lampard may have had a better impact but for pure skill, Hazard is world class, and he had yet another worldie.
