Akinpelu: I don't think any Chelsea fan genuinely imagined a 3rd place finish and the Europa League trophy

Ben: This game has summed up everything that’s been wrong about Arsenal in the last 10 years.

Paul: 2,500 miles to Baku, incredible costs and terrible travel opportunities yet a good number of Gunners turned up, shame about the players, shocking display, no backbone no bottle no heart.

The engraver is already at work, carving Chelsea FC into that beautiful Coupe Uefa.

    That's real pressure right there.

Petr Cech looks to the skies, a haunted look on his face. Not the way he would have wanted to end it all.

Former team-mate Carlo Cudicini comes across from the Chelsea bench to embrace him. It's almost 1am in the morning in Baku and the Chelsea fans out there will hope to keep the party going no doubt...

Arsenal have got a World Cup winner out there in Mesut Ozil who didn't produce anywhere near the level of Eden Hazard. Arsenal have got those players but defensively, there were own-half breakdowns and a bit of naivety here and there, and the goals have hurt them.

As well as it being Hazard's last game for Chelsea, I hope this is Ozil's last game for Arsenal. I can't see the point of him, other than reminiscing about what he used to do for us and hoping he can do the same

    Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal

    Alan Pardew
Former Newcastle and West Ham manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Eden Hazard has been brilliant for Chelsea and in that second half he was almost unplayable on that left-hand side. He's created and scored, his job is done. He'll be looking forward to getting hold of that trophy and it's thoroughly deserved too.

Alex Iwobi may be Arsenal's best player on the night and he only played for 20-odd minutes. He beats a man, crosses for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and he duffs a shot across the face of goal and wide.

  13. SUBSTITUTION - FAREWELL HAZARD?published at 88 mins

    Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal

Arsenal fans, you can clear your Thursday nights for next season. You'll be back in the competition.

Eden Hazard is coming off. Limping away from a heavy challenge. He won't have a hat-trick but he will have another medal for his collection. Off to Real?

We expect so. Davide Zappacosta comes on. Like for like.

  14. 'Chelsea went up a level'published at 21:44 British Summer Time 29 May 2019

    Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal

    Alan Pardew
Former Newcastle and West Ham manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I thought Arsenal's system worked well in the first half. I think they had the upper hand. But when they came out for the second half I think Maurizio Sarri was a bit braver.

Chelsea's two wide players were more aggressive in their defensive work and they got turn-overs, and from the turn-overs have come the goals. But after the first goal Arsenal went down a level and Chelsea went up a level. And that's how it stayed for more or less the whole of the second half.

Alex Lacazette bends a free-kick over the top. The disparity in the level of excitement in this game before and after midnight makes sense of course - they've played on a Thursday in the Europa League all season.

Almost a second! Pointless sub Joe Willock plays a one-two, cuts Chelsea's defence apart and then curls wide with only Kepa to beat.

This game has been as good on Thursday (Baku time) as it was rubbish on the Wednesday...

Mini me: Let's take a moment to appreciate how phenomenal Jorginho has been today.

Chris: Willock coming on is a). Most pointless substitution I have seen b). A sign that Ozil is leaving Arsenal surely?

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 82 mins

Save! Kepa claws away a strike from Alexandre Lacazette, a really good save and the follow-up is then blocked. My hopeful punt on 4-3 could yet come off.

  20. CLOSE!published at 81 mins

Chelsea could have had seven or eight in this second half. Remarkable really. Captain Cesar Azpilicueta is left in acres of space yet again but drives just past the far post.
