  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:22 British Summer Time 24 October 2018

    Preston 3-1 Brentford

Preston almost restore their three-goal advantage.

Lukas Nmecha unleashes a powerful striker from an angle, which Daniel Bentley has to tip behind for a corner.

The set piece comes to nothing. There are just under 10 minutes to the break at Deepdale.

    Bristol City 0-0 Hull

Yet more chances go begging at Ashton Gate.

Jamie Paterson goes close for Bristol City, then Jarrod Bowen curls a 12-yard shot just wide of the far post.

    It stays goalless.

    Bolton 0-1 Nott'm Forest

I've just seen a tackle that should sit in the dictionary as a perfect description of the word 'cynical'. Jason Lowe chopped down Gil Dias as he hit full-flight. The Portuguese winger tumbled to the deck.

Yellow card. It was more cynical than Charlie Brooker watching Britain's Got Talent.

Frank Lampard is all smiles and you can't blame him.

His Derby side look threatening every time they come forward and lead 2-0 after 21 minutes.

Do the Championship's top scorers have a response?

    Leeds 1-0 Ipswich

Since the goal, Leeds have stepped up a gear and there are a few jitters every time the ball goes into the penalty area from the Ipswich defence.

Leeds have been forced into a change, as Gaetano Berardi limps off with what looks like a hamstring gone, and Stuart Dallas, who's played a bit of full-back for the under-23s, steps in to cover.

    Sergi Canos (29 mins)

    Hope for the Bees?

This one is the pick of the goals this evening as Spanish winger Sergi Canos cuts inside from the left and unleashes an absolute thunderbolt from about 22 yards out.

That is into the top corner, giving Preston keeper Chris Maxwell no chance.

  8. goal

GOAL: West Brom 0-2 Derbypublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 24 October 2018

    Tom Lawrence (15 mins)

The first may have been fortuitous for the Rams, but this one is a well-worked team move.

After some neat passing in midfield, the ball is worked to Tom Lawrence, who dribbles into the area from the left, cuts back inside and his rasping shot finds the bottom right hand corner via the bottom of the post.

    A great goal.

  9. goal

    Joe Lolley (12 mins)

What a hit by Joe Lolley, who has developed a bit of a habit of spectacular drives. He was picked out, left side, edge of the box. Arrowed beyond Ben Alnwick into the roof of the net right side. Pick that out.

    Forest in front.

    Bolton 0-0 Nott'm Forest

Nothing major to report from the University of Bolton Stadium.

Yanic Wildschut had a dig on goal for the home side but that's as good as it's been so far, chances wise.

They're the side with the main intent so far.

    Jack Marriott (10 mins)

    Disaster for West Brom!

As the Baggies play it around at the back, Jay Rodriguez gets involved in midfield and tries to play it back to the keeper under pressure.

But his back-pass is seized upon by Jack Marriott, who doesn't need a second invitation and slides it under keeper Sam Johnstone.

  12. goal

GOAL: Preston 3-0 Brentfordpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 24 October 2018

    Tom Barkhuizen (23 mins)

And the Lilywhites work the indirect free-kick so well they grab a third!

Daniel Johnson lays it off for Lukas Nmecha to strike, and his powerful effort takes a deflection off Tom Barkhuizen six yards out and into the back of the net.

A stunning start by Preston, and Brentford boss Thomas Frank must be wondering what has happened.

    Bristol City 0-0 Hull

Chris Martin goes for an overhead kick near the penalty spot but the Hull man sees his acrobatic effort flash a yard wide.

    An open game, this.

    Kemar Roofe (22 mins)

Having seen Ipswich come into the game, Leeds United pounce and get the crucial goal that puts them in front and stalls their opponents' charge.

Some superb work by the skilful playmaker Pablo Hernandez resulted in a cross which Kemar Roofe could not miss from that range. Ruthless when it counts.

Preston get an indirect free-kick inside the Brentford area for a back-pass.

It's 16 yards out and central...

    West Brom 0-0 Derby

The hosts threaten from an early corner, but Tosin Adarabioyo's attempt at an acrobatic effort is deemed a foul.

The Baggies have started brightly in the first five minutes.

    Bristol City 0-0 Hull

Niclas Eliasson has started very well for Bristol City - the Swedish winger cuts inside and tries another shot on goal, which David Marshall is again equal to.

Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has to make a save as Ipswich get a free-kick in range, and Matthew Pennington manages to guide his header toward the Leeds goal.

Still Leeds the side with most of the ideas so far. But Paul Hurst should be encouraged that his side do not look overwhelmed, given their disappointing record thus far.

Albion’s players are wearing back armbands tonight as a tribute to former director and local media personality Jeff Farmer, who died last week at the age of 79.

There was an impromptu minute’s applause from supporters - a nice touch - when he received a tribute on the big screen inside The Hawthorns before the game.
