Well played - Andrew Robertson slides a neat ball into the feet of Roberto Firmino, finding space outside the D, he turns and gets a shot off but it's straight at Jordan Pickford.

Everton then have a chance - blink and you'll miss it - as Theo Walcott finds Richarlison in space but his shot is half charged down by a sliding Trent Alexander-Arnold, takes all of the pace out of it.

No shots on target for Liverpool, just the one for Everton. Could easily be 2-1 to the visitors though - Liverpool now force a corner of their own, Virgil van Dijk is beaten to it in the air. One for the scrapbook...

Everton win a corner, Lucas Digne is putting in a monstrous shift down the left. Working double time on a Sunday.

Everton are certainly here to have a go when they can, they are pushing men forwards and pushing out at every chance. Big Sam will be tearing his hair out.

How? Wow. Brilliant bit of penalty-box pinball. Everton unlucky not to be ahead but applaud the defending from Joe Gomez.

Joe Gomez...wow! I thought it was in!

What a save by Alisson, it then hit Andre Gomes in the face but Joe Gomez slid back to clear it off the line.

HOW?!

Andre Gomes must have thought he'd scored! He started the move, feeds it out wide to Bernard and his cross is a good one. Theo Walcott heads it back across goal, Gomes is in the six-yard box and while Alisson makes a flying save to keep it out, it hits Gomes on the chin and is going in until Joe Gomez slides in and clears!

From on the line, it then hits a sliding Gylfi Sigurdsson and onto the post. Carnage.

A very watchable game - another half chance. This time it's Mo Salah who drifts to the right and finds Roberto Firmino inside the area, he rolls his defender well to open up an avenue but he can't get hold of his shot and drags it wide. Jordan Pickford can watch it roll safely by.

Almost great work from Richarlison, he takes the ball in his stride and in one movement sweeps it past Virgil van Dijk. The Brazilian ends up on the turf, there's a nervy look to the officials from fans in the Kop end but that's not a penalty, and no appeal either from the men in blue. Just a simple loss of footing.

That's the first time Everton have got the ball into Richarlison's feet. You've got to get the ball into the feet of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bernard, and use the pace of Theo Walcott.

Everton survive a good few minutes of consistent pressure, with Richarlison doing well to win a free-kick from Virgil van Dijk on halfway. Liverpool have conceded just five goals all season.

A lot of Super Sundays are anything but, but today has been a wonderful advert for the Premier League.

Lots of excitement, lots of errors. Just how we like it. Mo Salah has an air shot on the stretch, Jordan Pickford shanks a pass out of play. Wahhhaaaayyyyy...

It was great play by Liverpool. It just wouldn't sit down for Sadio Mane but he should have got it on target. It should be 1-1.

Sadio Mane in behind the Everton defence again! There are high lines, and there are high lines. His shot is blocked. A goal on the way?

Should score! Liverpool are on top now, this time it's Mo Salah dropping a touch deep, he plays it around the corner first time, Sadio Mane is onside and inside the area, the ball bounces up knee high and he thumps a rising shot into the Anfield Road end.

Should be 1-1! Jurgen Klopp is down the sidelines, urging more from the home crowd...

Lovely from Sadio Mane! A spin in the number 10 role, loses best mate Idrissa Gueye and floats a ball over the defence towards Mo Salah, but the speed of the pass just beats the Egyptian and it goes dead.

It's much more open than you may have anticipated. Everton pushing out and forwards as much as they can. Xherdan Shaqiri then pops in a cross which runs through to safety, Roberto Firmino can't get there.

Direct from both sides, Bernard dribbling nicely in from the left for Everton like a Brazilian Nick Barmby, but Virgil van Dijk takes it from him and moments later it's Mo Salah on the run at the other end. A defender clears again.

Slick move from the hosts, Sadio Mane finds Trent Alexander-Arnold screaming into the box but his cross is well cut out by a sliding Lucas Digne. As open and energetic a start as we could have hoped for.

Confident start from the visitors as Idrissa Gueye does well to deal with a quick counter attack, Alisson looking for Mo Salah down the right. Jordan Pickford then plays a lovely ball clipped out to Seamus Coleman. Two of the best keepers off the deck out there.
