  1. 'He reminds me of Henry'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2018

    FT: Arsenal 4-2 Tottenham

    Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, speaking to BBC Sport: "I have been here for many many years, it means an awful lot to me and to the fans as well. I am glad I played my part and we can all go home happy tonight. They could have gone six points in front of us but instead we've gone above them. The atmosphere was electric, that really helped us over the line in the end."

    On Aubameyang's goal:

"He does that in training all the time. It reminds me of Thierry Henry's finishes. He's been fabulous for us."

    On the touchline scrap:

"I'm not sure what went on on the touchline, something was said and the two teams came together. But what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. Afterwards we were fully concentrated on coming back to win the game."

  2. We should have scored more - Sonpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2018

    Arsenal 4-2 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Son Heung-min, speaking to Sky Sports: "We should have scored more goals than two. Arsenal were more clinical with their finishing. Of course it is disappointing.

"The first 15 minutes we were slow and we were just watching. We woke up when they scored and then the first half was good. We deserved the half-time lead."

On winning the first-half penalty which some thought was 'soft': "I brought it inside and he touched me. For me it was a penalty. The contact was there."

If games finished at half-time, Arsenal would be 19th in the table.

That makes zero real sense, I know. But it illustrates how good Arsenal are in the second half.

  4. 'We don't give up'published at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2018

    FT: Arsenal 4-2 Tottenham

    Arsenal

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, speaking to Sky Sports:

"We did a great first half but after the first goal we conceded we were a bit down. At half-time we spoke and knew we could do it. With the fans you feel strong, you go for the win. We did it - we came back.

"You can see always our second half, we play very well because we don't give up. That is the mentality."

Were it to stay like this, Liverpool will be four points behind Manchester City in second, and three points above Chelsea in third. Everton would be sixth.

Everton will just want to get in for half-time now. Liverpool are enjoying a good spell of possession.

I think Marco Silva will be disappointed not be in front. Everton have been progressive, dynamic, they've counter-attacked well and Andre Gomes has been impressive in the middle of the park.

But saying that, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri should both have scored for Liverpool. It's been a great game so far.

Into the last 10 minutes of the first half. It's whipped by. Five efforts on goal each. Could easily be 2-2.

I've got to say, that could be one of the passes of the season from Gylfi Sigurdsson. That reverse pass, it was brilliant. He could see the run of Theo Walcott from the right.

  15. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

And now another great chance! The Merseyside derby isn't always the greatest watch but this is a very good 0-0 so far. Everton threaten this time, Gylfi Sigurdsson spins on the ball and plays a belting reverse pass, through the Liverpool defence and finding Theo Walcott streaking in on goal. Alisson is out, off his line, could give away a penalty easily but gets it right, a slight touch taking the ball onto Walcott's shins and away...

Xherdan Shaqiri should have scored. He took the extra touch, I don't know why he did that. It allowed Jordan Pickford to come out.

That definitely should have been the first goal.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 34 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Fine save, but it should have been the opener! Xherdan Shaqiri won't get a better chance than that, he's free inside the area after a fine ball from left to right from Mo Salah, the Swiss almost has too much time and takes an extra touch he didn't need, he gets too close to Jordan Pickford and he makes a big save!

You look at Liverpool, with Roberto Firmino playing as a number 10, when he plays as the isolated number nine he starts there and ends up as the number 10.

I think it suits them when they play as a three up front, but they're accommodating Xherdan Shaqiri. I don't like Firmino starting as a number 10.

No room, no time - Andre Gomes is having a fine game for Everton but after he wins the ball back he has four men in red instantly all over him, swarmed. Mo Salah gives away a cheap free-kick though. Good game to watch so far but we could do with a goal.
