Drizzle falling steadily at the Etihad as City get this game started... Palace will just be hoping it doesn't start raining goals - they have lost 5-0 on their past two trips here.

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Man City kick off... and they don't let Palace have a kick in the first minute or so.

Pass, pass, pass... piledriver from Fabian Delph. That has to be pushed over by Palace keeper Vicente Guaita. Ominous start for the visitors...

  3. CLOSE!published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Chelsea 0-0 Leicester

David Luiz almost scores from his own half in bizarre fashion! He pumps a long free-kick over the top. Kasper Schmeichel comes out to meet the ball, leaves it and it bounces over him but about three yards wide.

Huddersfield win a free-kick in the openeing few seconds of the game but the ball in is stoutly defended by the Saints. How Town need to find a way to score - they've only managed three at home all season.

  7. 'So many decisions went against us' - Dychepublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Arsenal 3-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche to Match of the Day: "It wasn't a 3-1 game, I think all would agree with that. We conceded soft goals and one was marginally offside.

"When you come here you do need decisions and so many went against us. Ashley Barnes got an elbow in the face from an unnatural movement before the player goes over yet he gets booked.

"There was a clear two-handed push on Kevin Long but the penalty wasn't given because he goes down naturally. We've gone 60 games without a penalty now.

"We've got to turn good performances into good results."

    Stephen Warnock
    Ex-Liverpool defender on Final Score

Huddersfield's problem is they don’t have goals. Aaron Mooy being unavailable is a huge miss. He's their top goal scorer with two goals. That can't be happening at a Premier League club. They have to spend money in January.

  9. 'Penalty could've changed the game'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Arsenal 3-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Speaking to Sky Sports, Burnley striker Ashley Barnes said: "We were staying in the game at 1-0. At the start of the second half we had to be right at it because we knew they would change the tempo but unfortunately we gave them a sloppy goal from our point of view.

"We kept fighting and got a goal back and could have had a penalty, which would have changed it completely, but then it was another sloppy goal."

On it being a physical game... "It was like any other game. I've got a job to be done and that's all I can do.

"It was handbags on the side (with Sokratis) but what will be, will be."

On Sokratis' booking... "I was frustrated because I was thinking 'how many times does he have to foul me before he gets booked?' He was quick to book me for hardly anything. That's happened now and we've lost the game but we've got to dust ourselves down and go again."

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

It is plain to see what makes Eden Hazard so good, his trickery, intelligence, he sees the game happen before everyone but also has the talent to build on what he sees.

What he has done in the last three or four years is become the focal point. Before he was happy to stick to the wing and wait to get the ball, now he wants to get the ball and win games for his club. You can see why he’s linked with even bigger clubs.

I think Raheem Sterling is in the discussion for Player of the Season. He has been superb, he has matured over the last few years on and of the pitch.

Pep Guardiola got the best out of him, taught him how to get in at the back post and pinch goals, tap ins, the ones you love to see your wingers score.

'Tis the season to... have your football squad stretched by a flurry of fixtures. Manchester City, with their strength in depth, won't get too much sympathy on that front.

Although, with City fighting for trophies on four fronts, it hasn't stopped Pep Guardiola from recognising it could be a problem.

"In the last game against Leicester, John Stones played the holding midfield position for Fernandinho and was incredible in the way he played," he said.

"That's important, to see the players in different positions so when we have problems we can give time.

"We needed to do that. If not, then in February we will die. Until the end of January, it's incredible the amount of games we have."

  14. Man City away - the hardest top-flight trip of 2018published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson dodged a direct answer when he was asked this week whether taking a team to Etihad Stadium is the most daunting fixture, external in Premier League history.

One thing is for sure, though, City away has been the hardest game in the top flight this year.

Pep Guardiola's side have played here 18 times in the league in 2018 and have won 16 times, scoring three goals a game on average, with Manchester United and Huddersfield the only teams not to leave empty-handed.

Liverpool are the only team with comparable results, remaining unbeaten in this competition at Anfield over the past 12 months, but City's winning run is pretty unique - they are the last team in England's professional game to have a 100% home record this season - you have to go down to South Shields FC of the Evostik Premier League to find another in the top 11 divisions.

  15. 'I feel for Puel'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Chelsea v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

I feel for Claude Puel. Two weeks ago I saw them play Tottenham, they were on a long unbeaten run, and suddenly he's on the brink of being sacked, if you believe some of the stories. He faces Chelsea and Manchester City next - good luck with those two.

He's done OK. I understand that people are disappointed with the weakened team he put out in midweek - that was a competition they could have won.

Arsenal defender Sokratis had a few tussles with Burnley's Ashley Barnes, in particular on the touchline in the first half.

Asked by Sky Sports if he likes that sort of he game, he replied: "Of course, I enjoy it, it's football. Yeah, maybe it got too much, but it wasn't my mistake. But that's football, it can happen."

Asked by Sky Sports the last time he played in a game that feisty, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang smiled and said: "Wow, never! It was a really hard game. It was a physical, tough battle, but we won and that's the most important thing. I think all the team had a great game."

On being the Premier League's leading scorer...

"I think it's cool, it's good to know, but I try to look forward because the season is long."

"I could have chosen a number of topics because we don't live in a perfect world but this is the one I felt most compelled to put on my shoulders."

Vincent Kompany has been a figurehead at Manchester City since his arrival at the club 10 years ago, captaining them to three Premier League titles.

Now the Belgian, 32, has pledged to help tackle the issue of homelessness in the city he has called home since 2008.

Bournemouth are defending a fine home record against their seaside rivals from along the coast, and they really need to maintain that run.

After a super start, Eddie Howe's side have seen their form dip, albeit in a tough run of fixtures. With trips to Tottenham and Manchester United over Christmas, Cherries fans I talk to see this as a vital game.

It's a sign of Brighton's progress that in only their second season back in the top flight, new targets are being set. The talk isn't all about just staying up. Albion know they must continue to improve on the road.

Against an injury-hit Bournemouth side which has lost seven games out of eight, this appears a good chance to net a third away win.
