    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

Have we had an angry reaction from Manchester City? Not really. The home side are remaining patient as they probe for an opening. Palace are padlocking that goal for now.

Great save! Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic gets down quickly to his left to claw away Lewis Dunk's downward header from Pascal Gross's cross.

Southampton have been very good, their midfield runners are causing Huddersfield all sorts of problems and they always looked likelier to get the second goal.

    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Michael Brown
Former Man City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

That's what's special about the game, when somebody does something like that.

It'll be remembered by all the Palace supporters, the player himself... Andros Townsend will put his head on the pillow tonight and think 'how have I done that?!' What a feeling for him.

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Chelsea 0-0 Leicester

Chances at both ends as first Wilfred Ndidi has a spanker from the edge of the area well turned over, and then Chelsea counter from the corner. N'Golo Kante leads the charge, they play it wide to Willian who's free on the left of the area but his shot is tame.

Jorginho then hits a fine effort on the bounce but Kasper Schmeichel is behind it to fist clear.

    West Ham 0-1 Watford

West Ham win a dubious-looking free-kick on the edge of the Watford box. I'm not saying Angelo Ogbonna, who has just come on for the injured Fabian Balbuena, dived. But he might as well be wearing trunks and a snorkel.

That is crashed into the wall by Robert Snodgrass, and then Javier Hernandez is denied by Ben Foster's splendid save a few moments later.

    Danny Ings (Pen 42 mins)

That could well be that for Huddersfield. They've scored three at home all season and now need to double that in the second half.

A stuttery run up from Danny Ings and he slots his penalty into the corner.

    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Michael Brown
Former Man City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Oh, Andros Townsend... Is that goal of the season? It's an incredible strike from nothing.

He's 30 yards out, it's almost at the side of his hip but he manages to put his foot through it and it just flies into the top corner. It's rising all the time, it'd still be going now!

    Bournemouth 1-0 Brighton

Brighton have rallied since the Bournemouth goal, Chris Hughton may wonder how his team are behind. Jurgen Locadia getting his backside in the way of a shot from his own team-mate doesn't help matters.

  14. 'Goal of the season contender'published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

Andros Townsend must be 30 yards out and shows great technique. When he hits it, it doesn't move it flies straight. You can't say Ederson had a chance.

It's a contender for goal of the season. I've not seen anything better so far.

Some Chelsea fans becoming frustrated now. Leicester have been very well organised and apart from that one chance for Eden Hazard it's been tough going for the hosts.

    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

The City fans were just in the middle of a rousing rendition of "stand up for the champions" when Jeffrey Schlupp buried Palace's equaliser in the bottom corner of Ederson's net.... and Andros Townsend's belting volley has left the majority of this stadium in stunned silence.

    Andros Townsend

    A ROCKET!!

Do not refresh the page. Crystal Palace have turned this game on its head thanks to a stunner from Andros Townsend.

City half clear a deep Palace free-kick and may think the danger is over. Think again. Townsend watches the ball drop and strikes a left-footed volley as sweet as you like past Ederson from 25/30 yards.

Someone might have to check the net to make sure it isn't broken.

Well, well, well. Didn't see that coming.

And, judging by the silence in the Etihad, neither did the Manchester City fans.

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

Chance - no! Harry Maguire trod on the ball on the edge of the area, Eden Hazard was on to it in a flash and strikes a rising drive which thumps the top of the crossbar on its way over.

Maguire is a very lucky man.
