Cardiff City skipper Sean Morrison is missing today because of a "procedure" but, according to the Express, external, there's a bit more to it.

The newspaper claims that the 28-year-old was 45 minutes from death after his wife alerted club medics to a pain in his stomach, which turned out to be a burst appendix.

They are suggesting he could be out for six weeks, but given the circumstances, you'd probably take that?

Man Utd v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

There has been a late change to the Manchester United team.

Full-back Luke Shaw has pulled out due to illness. Diogo Dalot starts. That may well see Ashley Young switch to left-back.

Matteo Darmian is now on the bench.

Jose Holebas has been directly in more Premier League goals than any other Watford player this season (three goals, six assists). One more goal or assist will see him become just the fourth different player to reach 10 goal involvements in a single Premier League campaign for the Hornets (after Troy Deeney, Odion Ighalo and Abdoulaye Doucoure).

Man Utd v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

Brighton have back-to-back games against Liverpool and Manchester United, so this is a tough week for them - but they already have points in the bank because of their form at the turn of the year.

The Seagulls may have lost against Liverpool but they did make things difficult for the Reds, which is something they are good at.

Chris Hughton's side will have the same approach at Old Trafford but I don't see it working because United are just flying at the moment.

    Emma Hayes

Paul Pogba divides opinion because he frustrates.

He has been largely inconsistent, but that's why we have to value happiness.

The personal pride should be part of the DNA, but sadly it's not.

Jose Mourinho didn't bring out the best in him but that's the issue of managing millennial players.

Their lives are dominated through social media, it's different to the players of old.

Newcastle replaced Cardiff in the bottom three last week, but it is hard to see either of these teams pulling clear of the relegation battle. Whatever happens in this game is not going to change that.

John F. Kennedy was still America's President the last time Cardiff City won a league game on Tyneside. They've lost their subsequent nine visits but perhaps they'll never have a better chance to end that dismal record.

St James' Park has been anything but a fortress for Newcastle United - eight defeats already surpassing their total of seven for the WHOLE of last season.

Still the Geordies flock there, more in hope than expectation. That hope is wearing thin and they can expect an almighty scrap against Neil Warnock's men, who have only conceded in one of their last four league games.

Air of positivity around St Mary’s pre game, despite Wednesday’s penalty defeat. Southampton staged a fans forum on Thursday which gave boss Ralph Hasenhuttl another opportunity to communicate his vision to fans.

Seeing Danny Ings’ name in the team sheet only serves to improve that mood, but lingering in the back of home fans’ mind is that this is the first in a key set of games including Palace, Cardiff and Burnley which could shape the remainder of the season.

The last team to beat Liverpool in a Premier League game at Anfield won't be given a chance by many this time - but then Palace weren't at Manchester City in December either. I, for one, won't be quite so quick to write them off again.

With more points away than home, and a clean sheet tally bettered only by the top four, Roy Hodgson's team command respect.

The Eagles' remarkable return of three wins from their last four games away to Liverpool further rams that home and underlines it.

Every Liverpool victory takes them closer to that first title since 1990, but does that bring extra pressure that could affect them? Not yet.
