First and foremost, Paul Pogba looks happy. When Jose Mourinho was there that wasn't the case. He was going too deep to pick up the ball but now under Ole he has more freedom to go and play his game.

When he gets the ball he needs to have options, and with Marcus Rashford up top he's getting those runs and they have a get understanding together.

There's no doubting the feelgood factor that Ole Gunnar Solskjær has brought back to Old Trafford. He's already become the first Manchester United manager to win his opening six games in all competitions - can he surpass Sir Matt Busby's record by beating Brighton to make that six opening league wins, too?

    Jermaine Jenas

I can't believe the position Newcastle are in since I was there.

It goes deeper than Mike Ashley - they stopped looking forward at a certain point. It was a European team at some point.

At some stage that person took the finger off the pulse and they started going backwards. Since Mike Ashley came into the club the investment was reduced.

One transfer that has gone through saw Cardiff City land Everton striker Oumar Niasse on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.

The Senegal international joined Everton for £13.5m from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016 and has scored nine goals for the Toffees.

But the 28-year-old has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park this season, making only seven appearances.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche on whether the club will make signings in January: "It's not looking likely at the moment, there's nothing that's particularly close.

"There were a couple of situations that we thought we could open that haven't. We all know it's a tough window."

The Seagulls have given them good games. They will be rigid in their shape and hard to break down.

Former Bluebirds boss Russell Slade: "Keeping Cardiff up will be one of Neil Warnock's best achievements.

"He probably needs another 19 points.

"It'll be a great achievement for him. Getting striker Emiliano Sala for £15m will be the highest feel they've ever paid.

"All Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez can control is the controllables. His focus will be the three points - they are massive for both sides."

  15. Martial deal edging closerpublished at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

Anthony Martial's new contract at Manchester United is edging closer.

At the end of last season, it appeared certain Martial would be leaving Old Trafford.

Former manager Jose Mourinho was open to a deal but these plans were blocked by the club's hierarchy.

Since then, talks have opened, Mourinho has been sacked and Martial has become a regular under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

There is still no agreement on a new deal but I am told the chances of it happening are more likely than it was even a couple of months ago.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright says West Ham should sell Marko Arnautovic this January

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini says Marko Arnautovic can go to China if the club get a "good deal" - but added they do not want to sell the forward.

The Austrian is the subject of a £35m bid from a Chinese side, thought to be Shanghai SIPG with wages of £200,000 a week over four years on offer.

Arnautovic's brother and agent says the 29-year-old wants to move.

"When you have such a high offer everyone wants to leave, but he has a contract here," said Pellegrini.

"If I say the player must stay, the player will stay - but I think as a manager the best thing is to take the solution that is best for the player and the club, both together.

"If it's a good deal for both parties we will arrange to be without Marko.

"But the club doesn't want to sell him."

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will be out for "three or four weeks" with a calf injury, says interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Belgian - who has played just 31 minutes in six games under Solskjaer - suffered the injury in training.

"It is sad," Solskjaer said of Fellaini's injury.

"There are X factors in different players and we all know Felli's X factor and he'll be working hard to get back in."
