Liverpool v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

Liverpool got through last week's trip to Brighton with three points, which was the important thing - it is those type of games that decide whether you end up as champions.

I don't see them having many problems in winning this one too. Trent Alexander-Arnold is out, but Jurgen Klopp will just play James Milner at right-back, and he will not moan about it.

Anything Palace get from this game is a bonus, and I just don't see it happening.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

    Newcastle v Cardiff (15:00 GMT)

Newcastle make one change to the side which lost at Chelsea a week ago.

Defender Ciaran Clark is out injured after an injury in the midweek win over Blackburn in the FA Cup, and is replaced by Fabian Schar. But Jamaal Lascelles starts despite also being substituted in the game at Ewood Park.

Oumar Niasse starts up front for Cardiff after completing his loan move from Everton.

Lee Peltier is in for captain Sean Morrison, who the club say is having a procedure, and Joe Ralls replaces Harry Arter in midfield.

    Man Utd v Brighton

Manchester United are unchanged from the starting XI that beat Tottenham last Sunday and striker Marcus Rashford plays his 150th game for the club.

It is the first time United have named the same team in back-to-back league games since December 2017.

Alexis Sanchez returns from a hamstring injury and is on the bench, but Fred, whose wife had a baby in the week, is absent. Defender Eric Bailly is available again after serving a three-match ban and is also among the substitutes.

Brighton are also unchanged from last week's 1-0 defeat by Liverpool.

    • Bournemouth have conceded 14 goals in their four Premier League games since Christmas – more than any other side in the division in that time.

    Watford v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

Sean Dyche goes back to his old club with his Burnley team in decent shape again after four wins on the bounce, and they are inching away from the relegation zone.

Watford got a good win at Palace last week but they are so up and down that it is always hard to know what they will do next.

I am going to go with Burnley. They managed to beat Fulham last time out without having a shot on target, which was a nice trick to pull off. I just think they will nick this.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl makes seven changes to the team that were dumped out of the FA Cup on penalties by Derby on Wednesday night. So with the exception of Shane Long and Stuart Armstrong it is the side that won at Leicester in their last Premier League outing.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Yan Valery return after suspension and Danny Ings is back after a thigh injury.

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Valery, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Stephens, Targett, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Redmond, Ings

These two clubs have rung in the New Year in style. Both are unbeaten since Boxing Day.

Burnley finished seventh last season to lay claim to being the Premier League's best of the rest.

In the week that marks a year in the job for Javi Gracia, seventh is where Watford now lie. Troy Deeney looks back in form too, with four goals in his last six games.

Sean Dyche visits his old club looking to extend a four-game winning streak. Burnley have rediscovered their resilience, coming from behind to win their last two league matches.

    Southampton v Everton (15:00 GMT)

Both of these teams had good results last weekend, although I still thought Everton looked ordinary against Bournemouth.

The Toffees need to kick on, and they should use last week's win over Bournemouth as a platform for an improved performance this time.

I just think there is something missing with Marco Silva's side at the moment. It is strange - they should be better defensively with the players they have got, and they don't seem able to get Richarlison or Gylfi Sigurdsson on the ball enough for them to be in control of games.

    John Roder
    Match of the Day commentator

Southampton's next four home matches could be crucial to their chances of Premier League survival, with Crystal Palace, Cardiff and Fulham coming to St Mary's.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has overseen an improvement in Southampton's Premier League results and he'll know all about Everton's in-form Ademola Lookman, who played under the Austrian on loan at RB Leipzig last season.

Lookman's recent performances have been a plus for Everton, but their inconsistency must be a source of considerable frustration for Marco Silva.

Southampton's FA Cup defeat means Premier League survival is now their only aim, and with both sides finding clean sheets hard to come by we may be in for a lively afternoon.

Bournemouth v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

West Ham got a great result in beating Arsenal on Saturday, while Bournemouth's defeat at Everton last week means they have lost nine of their past 12 league games.

I don't think the Cherries have played especially badly in that time, which is one of the reasons I think they will return to winning ways on Saturday. They have a decent recent record against the Hammers too.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's smile is widening as the weeks pass by. But he will know the Wembley victory over Spurs will soon be forgotten if they drop points at home to Brighton as he attempts to become the first Manchester United manager to win his first six league games in charge.

The biggest difference in the change of the Old Trafford atmosphere is that United truly believe they will win a fixture like this. The feel-good factor is clearly evident around the club and their upcoming league matches gives them a real opportunity to continue that.

Only eight of Brighton's impressive 26 points so far have come away from East Sussex as they head to a ground where they have never won.

    Match of the Day commentator

Having taken just one point from the last four Premier League games, Eddie Howe is probably not in the mood to go discussing the future of Callum Wilson. His England striker is being linked with both Chelsea and West Ham - a consequence of Howe buying Dominic Solanke from Liverpool.

In fact, neither Wilson nor Solanke have been fit for the last fortnight, and both may again be unavailable for this match.

West Ham's dilemma is whether to sell Marko Arnautovic; a £35m bid from Shanghai SIPG has left them unmoved, but Manuel Pellegrini has intimated that a deal will probably be done.

The Hammers have lost only one of their last six away games and beat Arsenal last time out. They may well be feeling confident of only a second ever win at the Vitality Stadium.
