  1. 'Tottenham-time'published at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

We are about to approach 'Tottenham-time', they have great stamina and patience to go with it. But if they can last until the last five minutes they will start to get desperate, and that is where Llorente's aerial presence will really be felt.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 66 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

After surviving by the skin of their teeth at one end Newcastle are nearly in front.

Ayoze Perez has shooting space and opts to curl one at the top bin. Hugo Lloris is the bin man today and blocks the bucket. Diving high to his left to palm away.

  3. 'Worrying times for Newcastle'published at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

    Efan Ekoku
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

These are worrying times for Newcastle because they are scrambling defensively, really last-ditch stuff with over 25 minutes to go. Top class defending from Schar to clear it off the line.

  4. CLOSE!published at 65 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

I can't help but think that if Son Heung-min had gone down there Spurs would have had a strong penalty shot. Instead he weaves like a slalom skier and Spurs eventually have a corner.

In it comes, flicked on, Christian Eriksen gets touch... GOAL.... No. Brilliant clearance off the line by Fabian Schär. He just gets enough on it to clear, diving to do so and the technology of the day shows it did not cross.

    Superb defending.

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

    Efan Ekoku

Llorente is in good goalscoring form, he has finally found his fitness halfway through the season so this is not a change anyone will be disappointed with. The departing Moura hasn't had too much impact on the game.

Instantly Fernando Llorente heads a ball down to keep an attack flowing. He brings a different dynamic for sure.

Spurs have Newcastle pinned back. A wall of shirts across the edge of the box welcomes the onslaught. What have you got Spurs? Who brings a key to this party?

Cross after cross into dangerous areas today and yet the big man is on the bench, Fernando must be itching to get on the end of those!

Tottenham get Kieran Trippier in behind... great area... cuts it back... Florian Lejeune gets a flick on it and it kindly falls to an away shirt to clear. Lucas Moura was lurking, as was Son Heung-min but the Toon get a touch of fortune.

Fernando Llorente is on for Moura.

Spurs will have to change things. If anything Newcastle look the side who may win this.

  10. Postpublished at 55 mins

Newcastle suddenly with a bit more impetus again and Salomon Rondon is the target once more. He's beaten to a header. Matt Ritchie will pick this up and shoots low... held.

They are the kind of individual mistakes that Rafa Benitez wants his players to avoid. You would expect it if the better players of Tottenham managed to break you open with their superior skill

  12. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

A brief mix up at the back for Newcastle between Matt Ritchie and Jamaal Lascelles sees the ball desperately prodded back to their keeper, who has to scramble to beat a chasing attacker to it.

Newcastle have done so well and been admirably resilient. An error like that would be against the grain of all their fine work for sure...

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 52 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

    Inches. Just inches.

That's all that cost Newcastle the lead there.

NIce build up, a floated ball in from DeAndre Yedlin and space aplenty for Salomon Rondon. He heads it back where it came from and it hits the foot of the post.

A great chance and he did almost everything right. Almost.

There's a little bit of a bigger gap between Newcastle back five and the two holding midfielder. I wonder if Spurs can exploit that in this second half.

If it were Cardiff or Huddersfield there wouldn't be too many complaints (about style of play) but because of the stature of Newcastle United football club, people do start to grumble. I suspect the people complaining are Spurs fans!

  16. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

A long ball is pulled down in the box by Lucas Moura and he causes a bit of mayhem. He finds Son Heung-min who spins on the ball and wants to fire with his left peg... blocked... corner.

In comes the delivery, Davinson Sanchez heads... close... just wide.

A reminder that a Spurs win would move them second and within four points of the summit.

This is a big 45 minutes.

I'd say Spurs chuck Fernando Llorente on if Newcastle are going to force them wide to ping balls in. Makes sense does it not?
