That can't have been Aguero that missed that. It must be somebody else. It's an impostor!

I can't believe that. He must have switched off. He thought he'd scored before he'd scored.

  2. Aguero-woe!published at 8 mins

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Mate!?

    How?

Aguero misses from a yard at the far post!!!!!!

Bernardo Silva does brilliantly to take the ball around the houses - aka Chelsea defenders in the area - and plays a square ball across the goal to the far post where the Argentine is lurking.

    Somehow... somehow... Aguero shoots wide!!!

Apologies for the headline of this page being out of date, but we are having some technical issues.

I'm not out of date though, although some may disagree.

That's the beauty of having someone like De Bruyne on the ball, waiting for things to happen. Chelsea weren't organised one bit. Barkley and Hazard both switched off and De Bruyne put the ball between them for Bernardo Silva.

    Raheem Sterling

    Easy. Too easy.

Kevin De Bruyne catches the Chelsea backline with a quick ball down the right for Bernardo Silva.

The midfielder's square ball comes off the heel of David Luiz and falls to Raheem Sterling who gleefully punches the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

    Man City 0-0 Chelsea

Eden Hazard skins John Stones on the left and finds Gonzalo Higuain in the area.

The Argentine fails to get a shot away but has another chance moments later, however it's blocked on the edge of the box.

At the other end, City have a free-kick.

The game will be won and lost in midfield. Both teams have to have enough players in there to make sure they're not over-run.

Sarri likes to have two midfielders in front of the one, and three further forward than that, but I think Chelsea will have to be more conservative today.

I've been asked over the last two weeks and I did fancy Liverpool to win the league. With my Man United hat on, that really hurts, but I still feel Liverpool have it. I still feel it's their time.

Squad-wise, I still think City are the best, but I think that on this occasion, Jurgen Klopp will get Liverpool over the line.

Two weeks before their Carabao Cup final clash, this is a match that highlights the ever-increasing demands on those at the top clubs.

Pep Guardiola has called this one"a real final", external, as he plots what might have to be a flawless finish to the season attacking all FOUR competitions City started in. They really could win the incredible lot.

And even though Chelsea won't be champions, is Maurizio Sarri's first year as bad as has been made out? They're a top four team and could still win THREE prestigious cups! City were patient with Pep in year one.

The 'must have it now' culture brings added pressures to all. As in society, so in football.

  12. Man City out to complete big weekpublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2019

Man City v Chelsea (16:00 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Manchester City needed to respond after the shock loss at Newcastle United - and they have with wins here against Arsenal last Sunday then at Everton in midweek.

If they can get past Chelsea today to return to the top of the table, albeit having played a game more than Liverpool, it will complete a hugely satisfying seven days for Pep Guardiola and his players.

Chelsea may have been inconsistent recently but this side contains real quality.

City have had a big week with games against Arsenal and Everton, but they were able to start with Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling on the bench against the Toffees, so at least those two will be fairly fresh.

Chelsea have had the week off after thumping Huddersfield last weekend but I don't think that win over the Terriers changes the fact that all is not well with Maurizio Sarri's team.

They will still pose a threat to City's title bid, though.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

It looks like Manchester City are attempting to break the record for the most people pitchside ahead of a Premier League game. As well as a multitude of back room staff, City have a whole host of corporate guests who are allowed to get close to the action. Throw in the overseas broadcasters and the total must be close to 200 people.

The movement is very natural for a striker that has always, always scored goals. He is a very, very clever footballer. He is not quite there yet, 30, 40 yards runs and he is getting very tired but the sharpness of feet, and sharpness of brain, he will score plenty of goals.

With all due respect to Tottenham v Leicester, we now move on to the bigger game of the day...

  17. 'It's difficult not to get some reward'published at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2019

    Tottenham 3-1 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Claude Puel speaking to Match of the Day: "Throughout the game we had a feeling we can score against this team. We had chances and half chances.

"It's difficult to accept with all the good intention to go without the reward.

"We need a little more conviction and a clinical edge."

  18. 'I said Vardy could take the penalty'published at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2019

    Tottenham 3-1 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Claude Puel on Sky Sports: "I think it's difficult. Lot of regrets. It was a game in our hands and we had a lot of chances and created a lot of good moves. We didn't find the good finish.

"We had all the opportunities to win the game. It's encouraging to play this way and put this quality on the pitch. But there are regrets after all these chances.

On Vardy talking the penalty with his first touch after coming on: "I said to Jamie Vardy he can take the penalty. All the game we had a lot of chances.

On picking Gray instead of Vardy in the first XI: "I was happy with the performance of Demarai Gray. I also liked to see the other option of Jamie too. Today we needed to have another option, not just Jamie."

You have to give Spurs credit. They've had three home games on the bounce - Watford, Newcastle and Leicester - where you would favour them.

They've been taken to the wire in every single one so they've shown character, they've shown mental toughness. That's what you need in a title challenge.

We should make the point that there wasn't any sort of argument over the penalty, like we saw at Fulham a few weeks ago. James Maddison did, very clearly, hand the ball to Jamie Vardy so there was no issue there.
