Nice feet from James Tavernier and the Rangers skipper is chopped down in the middle of the park. A chance to get the big men up... However, Tavernier's free kick is over-hit and the home defenders have to quickly scurry back up to the other end.

A scare for Rangers as left-back Jon Flanagan is caught napping at the back. Toko Ekambi hammers in a shot that Joe Worrall does well to block and the spinning ball just eludes a sliding Carlos Bacca at the back post.

  10. Rangers relish challenge - Gerrardpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2018

    Rangers v Villarreal (20:00)

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been speaking to Rangers TV: "We were frustrated and disappointed after Spartak because we felt like we played well within the game, but it was maybe individual mistakes or careless defending why we've come away with nothing out the game.

"We always knew it was going to be tough, but we wanted something out of the game to really set Villarreal up, because we thought we might have the opportunity to beat Villarreal and be back in the driving seat.

"But I am excited about the game. We've got Champions League opposition coming. They have fantastic players.

"But, for us, it creates an opportunity and a stage that surely all my players are relishing."

    Rangers v Villarreal (20:00)

Rangers opened the group campaign with a stirring 2-2 draw at El Madrigal.

The visitors got off to a terrible start when Carlos Bacca thumped the Yellow Submarine in front inside the first minute and for much of the first half they were chasing shadows.

However, Steven Gerrard's side emerged from the break with more aggression and purpose and twice levelled through Scott Arfield and Kyle Lafferty.

"That result certainly gave us confidence and belief," Gerrard said yesterday. "I thought we finished as the stronger team."

Now we quickly turn our focus to Ibrox...

We mentioned Rangers great home record earlier. Steven Gerrard's men are yet to lose at home this season. In 14 games in all competitions at Ibrox, there have been 11 victories and three draws.

Villarreal have been struggling domestically, winning just three of their 13 league matches, but they visit Glasgow on a run of five unbeaten matches, although four have been draws.

This game should have been out of sight. Rosenborg are at home and they know that one goal will give them a really good result going into their cup final on Sunday.

Ooft! A hefty amount of stoppage-time. Nothing daft.

  19. Postpublished at 88 mins

    Rosenborg 0-1 Celtic

Celtic are struggling to hold on to the ball now. The passing rhythm and energy from the first half has evaporated and it's just a question of hanging on.

  20. Postpublished at 85 mins

    Rosenborg 0-1 Celtic

Celtic are sitting deep now, protecting what they have. Rosenborg are knocking it about but are not exactly busting a gut in search of an equaliser.
