Celtic remain well worthy of their lead but the performance has dipped and you wonder if there might be a sting in the tail.

Everything is going in their favour.

If Salzburg stay in front against Leipzig, Celtic would only need a draw at home against the Austrians to progress.

Letting this opportunity slip would be enormously painful.

Here comes Celtic skipper Scott Brown for the final 15 minutes or so. The central midfielder takes over from James Forrest.

Never mind what's going on in Austria, Celtic need to focus here. They look a bit ragged defending a corner and then Samuel Adegbenro flashes a header narrowly wide.

The home defence is in tatters as Tom Rogic slips a pass to Scott Sinclair on the left of the penalty area but the goalscorer over-hits his cross and a good opportunity for a second goal is wasted.

Leigh Griffiths and Cristian Gamboa are on for Celtic, with Odsonne Edouard and Mikael Lustig making way.

Odsonne Edouard cuts in from the left and lets fly with a rising shot but it cannons off team-mate Ryan Christie.

That will be the striker's last act of the evening...

Celtic skipper for the night, Mikael Lustig, is hobbling a bit but Celtic keep hold of the ball and the right-back soldiers on.

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla drops to the bench for Villarreal in one of six changes made by Javier Calleja following his side's 2-1 win over Real Betis at the weekend.

Andres Fernandez replaces usual first choice Sergio Asenjo in goal.

Alvaro and Jaume Costa come into defence, Manu Morlanes is in midfield, while there are places for forward duo Carlos Bacca and Karl Toko Ekambi.

Alfonso Pedraza and Samuel Chukwueze drop to the bench, while Victor Ruiz and Gerard Moreno miss out.

Kieran Tierney is off on another gallop and the Celtic left-back is hacked down by Djordje Denic.

Already on a booking, the home midfielder can count himself lucky there.

That chance for Rosenburg just after the break should serve as a warning to Celtic.

They were split wide open and only a last gasp challenge prevented an equaliser.

Rosenborg surely can’t be as bad as they were in the first half when they were totally off the pace.

A second goal would go a long way for Brendan Rodgers’ side. When Celtic are away in Europe take nothing for granted.

In the Champions League/Europa League, Celtic have won just two of their 44 away group stage games (D11 L31).

Kieran Tierney breaks to the byline and his cutback falls to Scott Sinclair in a busy box but the winger is a tad slow to turn and his shot is blocked.

James Forrest is brutally chopped down from behind by Rosenborg substitute Djordje Denic.

The winger is back on his feet but walking rather gingerly.

The hosts look a bit livelier now and Filip Benkovic needs to make a great sliding block on the edge of the six yard box to prevent a certain equaliser after good work from left-back Birger Meling.
