  1. Morelos inspires Rangers fightbackpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2018

Rangers 3-1 Rapid Vienna (4 Oct)

Having started off their Europa League group campaign with a draw away to Villarreal that surprised many, Rangers further belied their starting position as lowest seeds by beating Rapid 3-1 at Ibrox in October.

They had to do it the hard way after Veton Berisha put the Austrians ahead three minutes before half-time.

But Alfredo Morelos replied within a minute and, when the striker was brought down six minutes from time, James Tavernier put Rangers ahead from the penalty spot and Morelos secured the three points after a swift counter-attack deep into stoppage-time.

  2. 'I think I've had 10,000 requests for tickets'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2018

    Rapid Vienna v Rangers (17:55)

Rangers have an official ticket allocation of 2,500 for this evening's game but many more have travelled to the Austrian capital. The 23,850-capacity Allianz Stadion is sold out and those without tickets have been told to stay away from the ground.

"A real Rapid fan won't sell his ticket to a Scottish fan," said the host club's service chief Andreas Marek.

I'm guessing that theory is going to be well and truly put to the test...

Rangers' Andy Halliday can understand the fans excitement, saying: "There are 10,000 Rangers coming over and I think I've had 10,000 requests for tickets.

"I was still getting texts on Wednesday morning but I had to turn my phone off. I've told them they'll need to try and get them on the streets like everyone else.

"It's a massive game, the type we've not had for a number of years. So it's understandable that the fans are looking forward to it."

  3. G is for gripping...published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2018

    Rapid Vienna v Rangers (kick-off 17:55)

Group G is so tight. All four sides go into the final round with a chance of reaching the round of 32.

Rangers need three points to progress, while Rapid qualify with a point.

The Austrians will top the section if they win and Villarreal don't.

Villarreal go through with draw at home to Spartak and will finish top with a win, while the Moscow side are sure to qualify if they win in Spain.

  4. Rapid coach goes for itpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2018

    Rapid Vienna v Rangers (17:55)

Rapid Vienna XI: Strebinger, Muldur, Auer, Hofmann, Barac, Martic, Schwab, Ivan, Bolingoli, Murg, Berisha.

Rangers can't rely on Mario Sonnleitner conceding another penalty tonight as the 32-year-old Rapid defender who pulled down Alfredo Morelos in the reverse fixture at Ibrox misses out after picking up an injury in Sunday's 0-0 draw at home to his former club, Sturm Graz.

Croat Mateo Barac replaces him in defence as coach Dietmar Kuhbauer appears ready to adopt an attacking approach.

With former Barnsley player Philipp Schobesberger and fellow midfielder Christoph Knasmullner dropping to the bench, their places are taken by two international forwards - Romania's Andrei Ivan and Norway's Veton Berisha.

  5. McCrorie starts for Rangerspublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2018

    Rapid Vienna v Rangers (17:55)

Rangers XI: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, McAuley, Barisic, Jack, McCrorie, Coulibaly, Arfield, Middleton, Morelos.

Rangers are without on-loan Liverpool 22-year-old Ryan Kent, who picked up a hamstring strain against Dundee on Sunday, and fellow winger Daniel Candeias through suspension after the Portuguese was sent off against Spartak Moscow.

Top scorer Alfredo Morelos is back to lead the line and Scott Arfield returns after his suspension at Dens Park, along with Lassana Coulibaly and Glenn Middleton.

The big surprise is a midfield place for 20-year-old Ross McCrorie, who last started a game in September's League Cup win over Ayr United.

Gareth McAuley and Borna Barisic come into defence, with Joe Worrall, Andy Halliday, Kyle Lafferty, Eros Grezda and Jordan Rossiter dropping out, along with Kent and Candeias.

  6. Can Old Firm secure qualification?published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2018

It's crunch time for Rangers and Celtic as we reach the final round of group games in the Europa League.

Both sides face Austrian opposition and both sides know exactly what is required to progress to the knockout phase of the competition.

Rangers need a win away to Rapid Vienna. Nothing else will do.

If Celtic pick up a point or better at home to Salzburg that is enough. If they don't, then they must hope RB Leipzig don't beat Rosenborg in Germany and, given the Norwegians are yet to pick up a single point, that seems like quite a stretch.
