Worrying times for Celtic.

Mikael Lustig is briefly down on one knee as Celtic prepare to defend a corner and looks a bit wobbly. When the ball is delivered it cannons off the head of Diadie Samassekou and against the crossbar. It drops down near the line and Ryan Christie scrambles it away.

The tempo remains high as both sides fizz passes around on the pristine surface. A far cry from the tattie field in Vienna.

It looks like Mikael Lustig wants to soldier on. The Swede is celebrating his 32nd birthday today and will want to make it one to remember.

Craig Gordon is at full stretch to push over a powerful header from Zlatko Junuzovic. Group winners Salzburg are certainly not for coasting as they press with real intent.

It's been a cracking opening.

If any home fans were sitting down, they are back on their feet as Scott Sinclair charges down the left and delivers a cross that is just a fraction too high for James Forrest in front of goal.

Here we go. Celtic Park is rocking as Odsonne Edouard gets the game started.

Those Salzburg stats are impressive but Celtic are in pretty good nick themselves and turned in what might have been their best display of the season on Saturday to hammer Kilmarnock 5-1 on their way back to the Premiership summit.

Since losing away in Austria in September, their only other slip in 13 games came away to RB Leipzig.

"We've been getting better and better in each game and domestically we are playing at a high level," said manager Brendan Rodgers on Wednesday.

"It was important for us to arrive at the last game with it all in our own hands.

"We know it's going to be really tough against a top-class side. But we get the chance to show the great confidence and belief we've had from virtually just after the game when we played them."

Can Celtic make it three home wins in the group?

Salzburg may have already secured top spot but manager Marco Rose has made it clear he's not in Glasgow to pick up some Christmas bargains.

"We will give everything," he said at yesterday's media conference. "We want to be part of a great game. We are happy to be here, but we also want to show that we are rightfully here."

Salzburg, last season's semi-finalists, have won 36 matches in the Europa League since it was rebranded in 2009-10 - more than any other team.

They remain unbeaten this season in all competitions and enjoy a 14-point lead at the top of the league after 17 games.

The atmosphere is crackling as you approach Celtic Park this evening.

For Celtic, though, it’s simple. A draw or a win ensures qualification. But easier said than done.

Salzburg have won all five of their group matches and they have said they will give everything for another win tonight. Their starting line up reflects this. In Munas Dabbur they have the most potent striker in the Europa League so far this season, they are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season - and of course they have already beaten Celtic 3-1 in Austria.

However, there is undeniably an upbeat atmosphere in the east end of Glasgow tonight. Celtic thrashed Kilmarnock 5-1 at the weekend, the team are firing on all cylinders and have brought in Kieran Tierney.

The Celtic fans will still remember fondly their last European night here. The rousing victory over RB Leipzig almost seemed to give Celtic new belief. Another electric night will be required tonight.

Salzburg have run away with the section, sweeping all before them with five wins from five to guarantee top spot.

Celtic will secure second place if they become the first team to take something from the big-spending Austrians.

If Celtic slip up, then they need an unlikely favour from Rosenborg in Leipzig.

That's because if RB Leipzig and Celtic end the night level on points, the Germans go through with the better head-to-head.
