Reigning champions Celtic will regain the lead if they take at least a point from the first of three games in hand when the face their former manager Neil Lennon's Hibernian at Easter Road.

That's the early kick-off at 12:30 GMT.

Even if Brendan Rodgers' side lose that one, Rangers will have their chance to head the pile later at 15:00 when Steven Gerrard's outfit entertain struggling Hamilton.

Defeats today by Dundee and St Mirren, along with Motherwell's fine win away to St Johnstone, is leaving three sides isolated at the bottom of the table.

The Dee and Buddies are four points behind Hamilton Academical, who will be struggling to take anything from their trip to face Rangers tomorrow.

Accies are a further five points adrift of Lanarkshire neighbours Well.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we deserved a draw, I don't think we deserved to win the game.

"The penalty miss is a big turning point for us. We lose the game because we don't start the first half really well.

"We talked about defensive duties today, to make sure we clear lines, don't try to over complicate it at the back.

"But we don't defend a throw in properly, give away a cheap corner, don't defend the corner and really all Motherwell's opportunities came from bad mistakes from us giving the ball away in cheap areas, trying to play our way out of trouble when it was really a day to go longer."

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney tells BBC Scotland: "I thought our performance was a lot better and a marked improvement from last week.

"We had the game in a place where we wanted it after 60 minutes and things were starting to get edgy, so just disappointed to concede at that time and let them off the hook.

"The big concern for me is still the sporadic nature of the performances. The second half at Livingston last week was embarrassing, yet we hit a performance like that today where we got at it strongly."

Only two League Two games survived the winter weather and Edinburgh City and Clyde took advantage of second-top Peterhead's game against Cowdenbeath being called off.

City hammered fourth-placed Elgin City, with striker Blair Henderson grabbing his second hat-trick of the season to take his season's total to 24 goals.

A late goal from veteran midfielder John Rankin gave Clyde victory over fifth-placed Annan Athletic.

It means Edinburgh stretch their lead at the top of the table to Five points, while the Bully Wee narrow their gap with the Blue Toon to five.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "It was a tough watch at times, it was scruffy at times. We were untidy after the opening goal.

"I'd need to see it again, but I thought Connor MacPherson was offside for their goal, but the linesman assures me one of my players was playing him on.

"In terms of chances created and being the away game, I thought we just about deserved the points.

"I thought Sam Cosgrove led the line brilliantly today. Him and Stevie May go away feeling good about themselves getting a goal."

News just in concerning the Ovie Ejaria saga at Ibrox.

The 21-year-old on-loan midfielder will return to parent club Liverpool 'immediately', Rangers have confirmed.

Ejaria signed for Rangers in the summer on a season-long deal, but the club says he has "not settled" in Scotland.

The Englishman made 28 Rangers appearances, with all but five being starts.

But he was not in the squad for Thursday's Europa League defeat to Rapid Vienna, with manager Steven Gerrard saying Ejaria was not in the right frame of mind and would be spoken to again yesterday about his feelings of being "unsettled" in Glasgow.

But Ian McCall's side were fortunate to retain their one-point lead against impressive visitors from Dingwall despite having led 3-1 at the break, with Lawrence Shankland providing another double.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson tells Sportsound: "It was going to be scrappy and a hard-fought game. It always is here, but credit has to go to the players.

"I think what we asked for in the last month was consistency. We were organised, disciplined in difficult conditions. They don't get that credit often enough."

Looking ahead to Wednesday's trip to face Celtic, he added: "Every game at Celtic Park is difficult. If we get something, we will be delighted, but we will go there in a positive frame of mind.

"Our start of the season has dictated where we are, but we have shown a consistency over the last month."
