Francis Edwards: Let’s please calm down! This is Brendan Rodgers, not Pep Guardiola. He inherited a superb attack at Liverpool and the one job he had to do with the defence he failed at. He also failed with Celtic in Europe and as soon as is fight coming in the SPL he jumps ship.

Neel Mistry: Excellent choice of manager made by Leicester. Leicester City needed a top manager and they've got one. Let's see what Brendan Rodgers can do with the club.

  2. 'Need to score more'published at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    Leicester v Brighton (19:45 GMT)

Former Brighton striker Warren Aspinall on BBC Sussex: "We need to focus on ourselves tonight. We've had some good performances, but not got the results.

"We've not won in the league this year, and we're in a battle now. We need to score more goals and keep clean sheets."

Both of these teams lost to Watford in their last match - but whereas Cardiff's heavy defeat took place on Friday, it has been over two weeks since Everton played a competitive fixture.

That may well have given the visitors the chance to work out how they are going to turn around their season, having lost four of their last five in the Premier League.

Currently just a point above the bottom three, Cardiff know results at home are key to their chances of avoiding relegation.

Everton's enforced break may give them an edge in what is certain to be a keenly-fought encounter, with both teams desperate for a win for different reasons.

  4. Terriers in deep troublepublished at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    Huddersfield v Wolves (19:45 GMT)

The Terriers have lost seven consecutive Premier League home games - the only teams with longer losing streaks are Wolves (nine in 2012) and Sunderland (10 between 2003 and 2005).

They have also taken just one point from 14 league games since beating Wolves on 25 November.

Wolves are chasing a 12th league win of the season - which would be their highest total in a top-flight campaign since claiming 13 victories in 1980-81.

    Leicester v Brighton (19:45 GMT)

I was watching the feed of the Leicester players arriving at the King Power and making their way into the dressing room earlier on, on Brendan-watch. The two highlights were:

    1. Emile Heskey being in the tunnel. Legend.
    2. Jamie Vardy carrying a phone and three darts with him. That's his warm-up sorted. Quick game of 301...
  6. 'Rodgers couldn't do any more at Celtic'published at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    Tony Pulis
Middlesbrough manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

You need results and in today's game you need players behind you as well. Claude Puel has found that difficult at Southampton and Leicester. Brendan is going in there and he is a big personality. He couldn't do any more at Celtic, that job was finished for him

May be a case of be careful what you wish for. Puel wanted to play attractive possession-based football which apparently didn't suit counter-attacking Vardy and co. As far as I remember Rodgers also favours attractive possession-based football...

    Cardiff v Everton (19:45 GMT)

    Cardiff City

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock said he was frustrated by on-loan midfielder Victor Camarasa's physios.

Camarasa has played only seven minutes of football in the last five weeks because of a calf problem.

And Warnock says Camarasa has been absent even when Cardiff's medical staff assessed him to be fit.

"We're having physios and medical people from abroad telling us what we can do with him when he is our player.

"He obviously listens to his physios, his medical people and Tom, Dick and Harry from abroad.

"We think he's closer to fitness than what his guys think. It's a been a really big disappointment because Camarasa is a very important player for us."

  9. 'Rodgers is a great fit'published at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    Tony Pulis
Middlesbrough manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

The first thing Brendan Rodgers has got to do is win. He has got to find a way at the beginning - what are the strengths and the best way of playing for this squad? Then in the next three months he can decide what he needs to bring in and who he feels is necessary for how he wants to play. When he was at Liverpool they were unfortunate not to win the league, I think it is a great fit.

  10. 'They need to run like hell'published at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    Huddersfield v Wolves (19:45 GMT)

    Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town head coach Jan Siewert: "I was not pleased at all at Newcastle.

"The players who signed for Huddersfield at least have to fight and run like hell to stay in the Premier League.

"I hope that we see another face against Wolves because I didn't like the last one we showed.

"I am confident I will get a reaction from my players. I think my speech in the dressing room got into their minds."

Both of these clubs reside on what's developing into an ever-changing relegation battlefield - and this despite them having recently demonstrated a timely upturn in form.

After accumulating 10 points from their last five matches, the Magpies have real momentum. With record signing Miguel Almiron earning a standing ovation for an encouraging home debut on Saturday, they also have a genuine sense of positivity. That's essential as the scrap intensifies.

They are, though, just four points above the bottom three and in Burnley face a side that can easily derail their forward motion.

The Clarets now resemble the team who were so impressive a year ago but, like their hosts, can ill-afford to start believing that their work is complete.

You could forgive Newcastle for pitching this sign in a bid to keep Burnley captain Tom Heaton off the grass this evening. Amazingly, Burnley have not lost a Premier League game in which the goalkeeper has played since August 2017 against West Brom. I know he was out injured for a long time, but that is still an impressive stat.

    Cardiff v Everton (19:45 GMT)

Cardiff have conceded 28 Premier League goals at home this season, more than any other side.

They have never won a midweek Premier League fixture scoring just two goals in nine games (D3, L6).

Everton have lost eight of their past 11 league games, including all of the last three.

DeAndre Yedlin makes way for Javier Manquillo - the only change from the Newcastle side that started the 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

Club record signing Miguel Almiron keeps his place but there is no sign of Jonjo Shelvey, who is close to returning after a thigh injury.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Manquillo, Schar, Lascelles, Lejeune, Ritchie, Perez, Hayden, Longstaff, Almiron, Rondon.

Subs: Dummett, Ki, Diame, Joselu, Yedlin, Darlow, Atsu.

One change for Burnley as well.

Ashley Westwood is not involved at all - he's ill - so Iceland winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson starts his first league game since 2 January.

Peter Crouch, who has scored against Newcastle with four different clubs in the Premier League, is on the bench.

Burnley XI: Heaton, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Cork, Hendrick, McNeil, Barnes, Wood.

Subs: Lowton, Brady, Gibson, Crouch, Hart, Ward, Vydra.

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo: "It will be a very tough game. Huddersfield are a good team in a bad moment.

"We respect them and they have quality which will make our task very hard.

"We don't underestimate them at all. That would be the worst mistake, we cannot allow it to happen."

  20. Lennon back at Celticpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019
    Breaking

Neil Lennon says it is "an honour" to have been asked to manage Celtic for a second time after Brendan Rodgers completed his move to Leicester City.

Lennon, 47, will take charge until the end of the season, starting with Wednesday's Scottish Premiership game against Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Northern Irishman returns to the club he led to three titles from 2011, having left Hibernian last month.

"This is a club which has been a huge part of my life already," Lennon said.
