  1. 'It made sense for everyone'published at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    Sam Vokes joining Stoke

    Burnley

More from Sean Dyche on Sam Vokes' move to Stoke: "Sam felt a new challenge was right for him and the fee quickly got to a level where it worked for both parties.

"We don't do it purely for that, but when everything is factored in, it made sense for everyone."

    And more on Peter Crouch:

"Peter is a character who will fit in well here, with the club and the fans. He still has something to offer, and has scored goals everywhere.

"He's effective and has done that at every level, domestically and internationally. There's an all-round package in there."

Andrew Neill: You know how when Real Madrid sign a new player they have them doing keepie ups in the stadium as the press take pics? Newcastle may finally have signed a player who can actually do that...

  3. 'One hell of a player in there'published at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    What does your club need?

    Manchester United

More from Manchester United supporter, Barney Chilton the editor of the Red News fanzine:

"Anthony Martial signing a new deal represents quite a turnaround in a few short months - both on and off the pitch.

"Looking likely to depart after being fined on the pre-season tour, we know there is one hell of a player in there, and now we will hopefully see more of that as he develops his all round game.

"He’s worked hard on his defensive side, and also got his head down when his agent was talking this way and that. It’s great news for United fans. Let the best years be ahead."

  4. 'A wall of meat'published at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    Fulham

Looks like it could all be going on in west London later. Here's some more from Sammy James at the Fulhamish Podcast:

"I'm hopeful Fulham will tie down a couple of deals before the deadline. We announced five players after the official deadline ended in August, so still plenty of time yet!

"Michael Ngadeu-Ngadui looks like he's on his way from Slavia Prague. I don't know tons about him, but one Prague fan on Twitter described him as a "wall of meat", so sounds like he'll be a big physical presence in defence.

"The other potential transfer is Youssouf Sabaly, who has reportedly travelled from Bordeaux to London. He was good in the World Cup for Senegal, and I think he will be an upgrade on Cyrus Christie at right-back."

I don't understand how Chelsea players like Drinkwater, Loftus-Cheek and Cahill are happy to just sit on the bench when there are so many teams crying out for their quality. English talent going to waste

  6. 'Back-up striker for Jimenez'published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    What does your club need?

    Wolves

Wolves have already got a major deal over the line today when they completed the permanent signing of on-loan Jonny Castro Otto from Atletico Madrid.

But what else do they need? Here's David Evans from the Wolves Fancast with his thoughts:

"The hours are ticking away and if Wolves do need something else from the day, it's a back-up striker.

"The key here is back-up. Mexican forward Raul Jimenez will clearly be the starter for 10. After Wolves failed to land Chelsea's Tammy Abraham at the start of the window, his place would have only served as an understudy.

"A deal for Rubin Kazan's Sardar Azmoun apparently is over according to reports, so it would be a double boost, after the permanent signing of Jonny today, if Wolves can get another striker over the line to help provide cover and boost hopes of securing that illustrious 7th place trophy."

  14. 'A strange window for Chelsea'published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    Chelsea

Another view from west London, this time from Ramon Isaac, Chelsea supporter and contributor to the Chelsea Football Fancast:

"It’s been a bit of a strange transfer window for Chelsea, with most of the news around keeping our talent here, a bit of an oddity under Roman Abramovich.

"I think that remains the priority, and now virtually guaranteed with the club refusing Callum Hudson-Odoi’s transfer request.

"With a potential transfer ban looming round the corner, the team could do with strengthening at right back. While it would be great if the Ivan Rakitic rumours were true to provide competition for Jorginho and add some goals from midfield which manager Maurizio Sarri desperately wants.

"There are a number of young players at the club that could use the gap as an opportunity to get more game time under their belt."

  15. 'It could become win-win'published at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    Burnley

More from Dyche on Sam Vokes: "It is difficult to let Sam go, but he hasn’t played as regularly and it was an opportunity for him. It could become a win-win situation.

  18. 'Crouch has a hunger'published at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche on Sam Vokes: "I take great pride in Sam and what he has done for this club. As has happened before, players move on.

"He hasn't played as much as he'd like and I understand that. As for Peter [Crouch], he has a hunger to come here and make a mark.

"We know he's a good character and he still has a desire. The main thing for me is having motivated people."

Chris: Bolton could do with at least a striker, a winger, an attacking midfielder, a defensive midfielder, a left-back, a new manager, a new chairman, a new owner and an injection of cash. That's not too much to ask is it?

Chek: Peter Crouch is the biggest story of deadline day 2019. I don’t know whether to blame it on global warming or Brexit.
