  5. 'Can we persuade Maxi Gomez?'published at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    West Ham United

More from David Blackmore, editor of West Ham United magazine Blowing Bubbles:

"West Ham's forward line appears to be our most talked about department today, and we could have a much thinner strike force come our next game against Liverpool.

"Can we persuade Celta Vigo to part with Maxi Gomez this month with them in relegation danger in La Liga? If we can, where does this leave Andy Carroll?

"I think any hope he has of receiving any sort of new deal have all be disappeared based on recent performances. He doesn't fit into the system Manuel Pellegrini wants and, if I'm being honest, looks like he is struggling to really understand our new system.

"Carroll's decision to put his home on the market speaks volumes for where he thinks his future lies. He is from the Allardyce era - his time at West Ham has come to an end.

"As for, Lucas Perez and Javier Hernandez, both could also be gone today if we can get a loan striker in. But who will that be? Michy Batshuayi and his Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud appear to be most spoken about on West Ham websites."

Scott: Miguel Almiron will only be at Newcastle for a year, then he'll be off to Liverpool or Arsenal. He's a cracking player.

Patrick: Don't understand how Chelsea players like Danny Drinkwater, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and GAry Cahill are happy to just sit on the bench when there are so many teams crying out for their quality. English talent going to waste.
