  3. 'Sanchez's piano is in storage'published at 07:51 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    What does your club need?

    Manchester United

Manchester United have enjoyed an upturn in fortune since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge and supporter Barney, editor of Man Utd fanzine Red News, believes the Norwegian will not add to what he has before the deadline.

"I don’t think United will involve themselves in any transfer deadline drama this time around - Alexis Sanchez’s piano is in storage this time around - which can be welcome as it means we don’t have to get too involved in the circus," said Barney.

"But it is frustrating in that Ole or no Ole (and his great beginnings here) we actually do need a central defender with experience, a point that, I am sure, Jose Mourinho would cough at.

"January signings are a gamble; they need time most of all (see Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra in that particular dictionary) and I suppose transfer windows have become a sport in themselves, but whilst it looks like Marouane Fellaini may well go when the Chinese window closes, United’s business will be quiet - too quiet for some."

  4. Leicester, Aston Villa but not Perisicpublished at 07:48 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

After their excellent draw at Liverpool last night, I am expecting more good news for Leicester today.

Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemens has been touted round a number of Premier League clubs, particularly Tottenham, but Leicester seem to have won the battle for the 21-year-old.

Tyrone Mings is a bit older but the 25-year-old Bournemouth defender is also going to be on the move, with Aston Villa his likely destination.

One player who won't be leaving is Ivan Perisic.

Arsenal are keen on the Croatia World Cup star but Inter Milan have absolutely no interest in getting involved in any kind of deal that does not involve a guaranteed transfer fee.

We've all seen the #10yearchallenge, right?

Well our friends over at BBC Three have been looking at a Premier League transfer window 10 year challenge.

The fees have changed a bit. The 2009 biggest fee was £15m for Andrey Arshavin. This year it has been £58m for Christian Pulisic.

But other things are different too. The fashion has changed. And there's no 'Arry leaning out of a car window.

  12. Don't write off moves on Merseysidepublished at 07:29 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Not expecting Everton or Liverpool to be a hive of activity today - on the blue side of Stanley Park Marco Silva does not have big money at his disposal while on the other Jurgen Klopp is satisfied with the squad that tops the Premier League table.

Do not, however, write off Merseyside's transfer deadline day

The big question at Everton is whether midfield man Idrissa Gueye will get his move to Paris St. Germain.

The Senegal international wants the switch but Everton are holding firm, rejecting a £21.5m bid out of hand.

Will PSG come back with more - and will Everton even have time to replace Gueye? There may be life left in this one.

And another midfield man James McCarthy, out for a year after a broken leg, is being linked with a loan move to Crystal Palace.

Everton are also being touted as contenders to buy Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi but unless money comes in from elsewhere this looks reliant on owner Farhad Moshiri doing a u-turn and releasing the purse strings before the summer. No sign of that as yet.

As for Liverpool. It's deadline day so all eyes are on Lazar Markovic. Again.

  14. What's happened so far?published at 07:25 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

It has been a quiet window so far.

Just 17 deals have been completed, with a total spending of £113m - a long way short of the £430m spent in January 2018 - while half of the 20 Premier League sides have not signed anyone.

Chelsea have completed the biggest signing of the window so far with the acquisition of forward Christian Pulisicfrom Borussia Dortmund for £58m,but they loaned the USA international back to the Bundesliga leaders until the end of the season.

Things could get interesting in west London today, particularly with the outgoings from Stamford Bridge.

The club say winger Callum Hudson-Odoi will not leave today, despite the bids from Bayern Munich during the window.

Experienced Blues centre-back Gary Cahill is another that has been linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge, with Fulham and Crystal Palace possible destinations, external for the 33-year-old.

Sky are reporting this morning that Paris St-Germain are interested in forward Willian.

  20. What could happen?published at 07:10 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

So who are the ones to watch out for today?

Newcastle could be one of the busiest Premier League clubs with it looking likely Mike Ashley will open his wallet and give Rafa Benitez some cash.

The Magpies are expected to sign Paraguay playmaker Miguel Almiron from MLS side Atlanta United and could bring in a few more.

Arsenal signed Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez on loan yesterday. They could still be active on this final day of the window. Our reporter David Ornstein says moves for Yannick Carrasco or Ivan Perisic look unlikely but the Gunners are still Paris St-Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku.
